Newfs in the paper-- tallest dog!

I thought that perhaps Murphy and Syd are bigger...or at least taller. I think they're going for length in the Guinness Book, tho. IF yours is bigger...you could submit and knock them out of first!

I have never measured Murph length wise. Maybe I will.. His brother Ozzy is also very tall.. I'll get Patti to see how long he is if he will sit still ... LOLL Then there is Syd and Thunder.. and possibly Marcus and Pooka.. who are very very big boys..

Lol .....just crazy BIG!!! He's taller than your table!! :lol: Love me some big dogs! And I just measure Maggie, she's 19". Gotta lot of catching up to do!!

I just got an email through Flickr from a place called nowpublic.com I have never heard of them, but they said in their email they had the story posted about the "World's largest Dog" and wanted to use photos from my Flickr account of Lola. I don't know if it is some scam or not. I deleted it and didn't answer them. Lola is only about 24" and 80 pounds at 7.5 months. Can't imagine why they would want photos of her.

When I heard this story on the radio this morning I immediately thought of Murph! MEASURE THAT BOY! You could get enough money to pay for all those vet bills with the publicity he would get:)

My Thunder seems to fall just a little short. Trying to measure him while lying on the floor he appears to be 34" to the top of his shoulder (not sure I got the right spot) and 6'6" from nose to end of tail cartilege. Weight 175. Poor baby, won't make it.

There have got to be a bunch of dogs around bigger than that- Danes, Irish Wolfhounds...

that is the first thing i thought of. A friend called me and said he saw an article about the next big newfie to die young. poor guy.

there is no way this could be the tallest dog in the world??? he may be tall but the tallest?????not only do we have a few here that could be as tall or taller but what about danes???

Well, Lard Butt Sydney is not as heavy (thank goodness!) but he does weigh in between 174 and 175. I just measures him again and I'm right in between 36 and 37 depending on how he's standing (which isn't very still at the moment LOL)
I still agree that he, Murphy, Marcus and Thunder are taller than this guy.
I don't have as pretty a picture as Jenn does of Murphy to post here but I do have one for comparison from the rear. It serves a dual purpose so as to define WHY I call him Lard Butt AND to show how tall he is against the counter.

Now thats a Big Dog,(Syd) it was on the news today, I still think he is mixed with something else, like Irish wolfhound, he does not have the build that I see on newfies

I suspect we have several nn dogs who could challenge him...including lard butt! He is a big fella isn't he! And just another chiming in that his rear assembly does not look healthy. newfs should have lard butts!
