Morning,
Well, mudji survived his night in the crate. He was restless, but has not been in one since he was a pup. I slept on the couch and listened to him all night. I let him out about 4, I think. He headed to the water bowl and I could hear him draining it. When morning dawned, I was greeted with sloppy kisses and a wagging tail!
Me, not sure how I'm doing. I know I'll get through this, but it's hard. Tears are coming way too easily, and I know I've probably already started the grieving process. But we will soldier on, somehow.

I'm glad to hear that Mudji greeted you this morning in true Newfie fashion! 
Sometimes the pain meds taking the edge off, will allow them to sleep deeply due to the lack of rest before. That may be what was going on yesterday evening.
I went through it with Ivory, and she showed me what a true 'will to live is', along with unknown strength and grace. Sounds as though Mudji is strong and your Vet will help you manage his care. Hang in there, it sucks that this is happening, but please know you and Mudji are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hannah.... I know how much the support meant to me in those dark days. And yo know it will always be here for you..
Sloppy kisses and a wagging tail are very very good things though... :icon_knuddel:
In the meantime.. . If you want to cry.. schedule yourself a "meltdown".. preferably away from Mudji (cause he would be upset) and any one else who thinks you are a lunatic for wailing and crying and maybe swearing and being so passionate about "a dog" .. Then let er rip !!!
