I don't know if any one else has had this problem but I thought I would share it with you. I was vacuuming and my canister was full so I emptied it and put it back on the vacuum. I then switched my vacuum back on an nothing happened. I released the handle and the beater bars turned on but there was no suction. I tried turning it off and on a few times, and still the suction part didn't turn on. I was afraid the motor burned out. I called Dyson and she was filling out the paperwork for a service repair. She took quite a a long time thank goodness, I got so bored waiting, I pressed the power switch one more time and it started up. She then informed me there is a cut off switch if the motor gets too hot, from a clog, or a dirty filter et. (there is a filter? who knew!!) I have had my vacuum for two years and I had not cleaned it. I knew it needed something every six months so I have been handing it to my husband and he always brings it back after doing whatever he did to it, I didn't ask, and he say's, "there it should work better now". I don't think he ever cleaned the filter because you have to wash it, and wait for it to dry, so I would have noticed that. I don't think my filter has ever seen water, and it looked like it. Anyhow after the motor cools down it will turn back on. I wonder what the repair shop would have charged me to wash my filter? :coffeedrink:
