Gus's first night

Well we picked up Gus last night and brought him home. He did not want anything to do with getting into the car. The DH lifted him in the back of it. Gus hunkered down with all of his weight trying to resist getting into the car. Once we got him in he was ok. When we got home we let him wonder a bit in the back yard then brought him in the house. Noche heard some commotion and was like "what the heck” She initially barked then came out of our bedroom and they sniffed each other down. Gus seemed to pace through the house a lot. He is quite nervous and scared. He had quite the day yesterday. Got snipped, chipped, all shots, heart worm tested, frontlined and on top of it all had to ride in that dreadful car. He has no leash manners what so ever. Gus is severely underweight. I can not wait to fatten that boy up. You can feel every single rib and all of the vertebrae on his back. Poor boy. He is a very very sweet. I had to put the bite not collar on him last night because he was licking his sutures. He seemed to deal with that pretty well. I know when I initially put it on Lilly she was like "what the hell is this” and acted like she could not move. We kept Gus in the crate last night and he did well. I think Noche is pretty excited about him too. She has been lying next to the crate both last night and this morning.

I can not wait to see how Gus progresses in our home. Even just a little love goes a long way and we have A LOT of love to give him.

Bless you for letting Gus in your home and heart. My Lonnie paced the first few nights too, and she chewed off some of my foam memory pillow, so your new boy is doing really well! It is so wonderful that Noche (great name) is happy about him too - what a great family you have. More updates - please!

Thank you for helping Gus, he sounds like a real sweetheart. My Leo paced a lot when he first got home here, especially in the evening. He's doing much better now.
