Benni: December 2003-October 6, 2009

Yesterday we said goodbye to our great dane/husky-mix, Benni. On August 20 she was diagnosed with high grade lymphoma. We are so thankful we were able to have almost 7 additional weeks with her. Unfortunately, this past weekend she started to really go downhill and we believe the cancer had moved into her bladder.

We are so thankful her two Newf "brothers" are still here to comfort our hearts. I just wish I knew how to comfort theirs...

I am so very very sorry. It just hurts. I lost my beautiful boy on 8/14 of this year, and I am still having a difficult time with it.

Thank you everyone! Your words are so very kind and are providing much healing. Each day, I presume, it will get easier. The house seems quiet and empty (even with two other dogs over 100 lbs!). She was "my" dog -- she picked me out at the adoption event where we got her, and it just seems weird not to have her by my side, or at my feet while I'm on the computer. Last week I won a DNA kit from a local natural pet market, so I was able to swab her gums and cheek, and we will know "for sure" just what she was made of!
