Wow! Took her in for routine vet ck and rabies shot. Vet felt "something: in her abdomen. She stayed for x-rays. They is a mass of some kind...but it is vague, not defined. Full blood panel results will be in today. If indicated barium x-rays tomorrow. She is only two years old:( Thoughts are appreciated. Kim

Try not to worry too much. Chance had a "mass" in his abdomen too ... not long ago. It could be felt, and showed up undefined on xrays.

The Vet wanted to send him into a specialist on the following Monday for further tests. On Saturday he passed a 2" piece of blanket he had eaten.

Mass was gone. So it could be something she's eaten that's (hopefully) passing through.

Sending lots of good thoughts her way.

The vet does not think it is a blockage, as the intestines would be bunched up. We only began leaving her out of crate while unattended within the last two weeks....so who knows....although she has not shown a tendancy to eat / chew stuff.

Just waiting on blood work now. I do worry, as she has been acting different this week - going off by herself. She is normally glued to us. I will keep you posted as I value all your advice and experience. Kim

I'm with Kelly-don't worry until you know something! Good for your vet for being thorough though. Hopefully it's just something passing through :) Awaiting news anxiously with you.

I'm in the "wait and see" group but sending a few prayers and good thoughts out into the universe for a negative follow-up study. :hugs:

Blood work all with in normal ranges. Several options have been mentioned. Exploratory surgery - which I immediately rejected....way too soon! Follow up x-rays to compare and contrast - within a week. Ultrasound and or/ CT scan. We are waiting to hear from the last vet in our practice to weigh in after seeing the films. In my experience with rescue, many folks spend a good amount of money trying to save money, without getting good info. Aside from cost and anesthesia , I don't see any down side to a CT scan. I appreciate all opinions. Kim

Having recently gone through something similar, I'm thinking of you and here if you need anything. The worst part about xrays is that they're pretty much inconclusive if it's anything but metal. If it's a partial obstruction, barium can help move things along (it did for Bojie 2.5yrs ago), as well as help them visualize things better. Which is always a positive. When you get her back from the barium series, just know it's a bit messy, white and thick, so her bowel movements will look like that for the first few times until she gets it out of her system. Don't let it alarm you. I also refused exploratory surgery until Bojies clinical signs worsened. It was the absolute last resort for me, until he clearly exhibited signs that it was time. You're doing everything I would do, keep us posted!
