In the months leading up to finding my baby girl, I did a lot of research. Some of the information that I found just confused me because there was so much of it conflicted with what I had read elsewhere. Finding this forum has brought much needed clarity and support and it became so evident last night. I was at my local pet store picking up treats and new toys for Maya and found myself in a conversation with a Newf owner. She asked a multitude of questions and offered up some advice. Because of this forum, I know not to listen. She prefaced her suggestions with the fact that she has owned this breed for 15 years and currently owns three. The first recommendation was to not use a crate. She said that newfs should never be crated, it is borderline abusive. Second bit of advice, newfs don't need training, they train themselves. Thanks again.
