Sunshine is sick

I am waiting for a call from the vet. I took Sunshine in to see her regular vet this am as her cough is getting worse. She just finished her second round of antibiotics - Leviquin. She was better for a while but then started coughing more. Her energy level seems very low. Her appetite is still very good so that is a plus but something is wrong. He is taking a chest x-ray and blood and we will go from there.

I hate this getting older. She will be 10 in June.

I wish my phone would hurry up and ring. :(

Good thoughts sent your way. Could it be kennel cough? Did the vet say anything about her heart?

My Sara got a cough that would get better then worse. She would get better for while on antibiotics then it would come back when she was off them. After many rounds of antibiotics my vet suggested heart x-rays thinking she was in congestive heart failure. The vet decided she had congestive heart failure and wanted to start her on a low dose of meds increasing them until the cough stopped. Long story short I decided to take her to a cardiologist.

Sara was not in congestive heart failure. Her heart was perfectly normal. They did a trechial (spelling) wash. She had a bacterial infection in her lungs. After 8 weeks of a very stong antibiotic she was OK. BTW the cardiologist said the medication my vet had her on could have killed her. Sara lived another 3 years.

Poor Sunshine - I can imagine you are very stresed. Here's hoping you get good news - prayers from here!

Tricia, hope your Sunshine is going to be OK. It is not easy dealing with Drs and tests. My Dr just flubbed an antibiotic issue and it landed me passed out in the ER. But today I'm almost as good as new. Keep a log of how Sunshine is doing so you can be specific about days times durations of symptoms.

You've been so nice to newbie me and I am looking forward to meeting you and your pack soon! All get well fast. Prayers and healing energy, and may God guide the vet.
