when I went to the diamond dog food site they said they manufactured their own food, why do we have to go through so much BS and wait for humans to get ill and a CDC investigation of human illness, before we demand all information, including who the facility is that produces/makes the food we are purchasing to be prominently displayed on the bag, box, jug, jar we bring into our homes?? All of these recalls should have happened weeks ago and I don't know about you, but the "voluntary recall" "no illness reported" lines are a crock of sh**.
I rushed my Abby to the vet two weeks ago fearing the start of bloat, did my vet ever suggest to me that this might be salmonella? NO how could she?

I now have 3 bags of food to take back today and have to try to find a reasonably priced food that will not send my dogs back to the allergy prone licking of the feet crap. Any suggestions?

What are they allergic to? So many folks here deal with allergies I am sure you'd find some great suggestions.

the foods with grains make them start licking their feet and scratching. So I am looking for a fairly priced food with no grains

It does make this food gauntlet even rougher...the games that are played in the dog food industry let alone the regular food industry. I must admit we have been looking into alternatives, not successfully yet but certainly doing research.

I use Kirkland Natures' domain and that was also one of the recalls. I checked the new bag that I haven't opened yet and the product number is ok. I guess it is ok then right???

hopefully so Pam. I use Chicken Soup - Adult, and the numbers seem to be okay, but I'm kind of wondering. Raw is looking better every day...then there would probably be a beef or chicken recall! I'm a city girl these days...can't raise cows or chickens here,.

No suggestions, just commiseration. This has all got me worked up too. One minute I'm putting on my shoes to rush off to the boutique dog food store in town for some brand of new food, the next I'm rationalizing why not to (Mila does so well on it! Every food is going to have a recall or two at SOME point, etc., etc.). Ugh. I'm going down kicking and screaming!

Pressing our luck here to since Morgan is a queen of eating and licking her feet if she eats anything wrong.
Been good since we switched to TOTW Salmon last Nov. Haven't had any issues.

The shelves are emptying of food around here so there is little to pick from.
Ronnie, I am not a fan of raw as such meat can also be contaminated. Heck in the US you hear of vegetable recalls as well.

It's very frustrating to know that one unopened bag was tested back in Oct and tested positive, from that point on things at the company should have changed.
But what is really frustrating is that companies that use Diamond to make their food and put their name on a bag, never say anywhere on the bag that the food is produced within the diamond factory. Had 4 health stated that on their bag, I would not have bought it at this time. I understand like in human foods there will be recalls in pet foods, but at least in human foods you have more options of reasonable quality. Ugh so frustrating.

Taste of the wild has been recalled. I know that the public is concentrating on lot numbers but I would be counting on that to be true. The company goes a lot by what is reported, so if something is not reported it did not happen! In my dog club a mother & daughter, both feed Canidae dog food, mother's lot not on recall list / daughters lot is on the list, yet the mother's dog is the one that got sick!

For now until all of this is corrected I am not feeding any of the below, if they could not tell the truth 7 months ago why would I believe they would do so now?

Canidae Pet Food
Costco's Kirkland Signature
Solid Gold Health Products for Pets
Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Pet Foods
Kirkland Signature Nature's Domain (Available only at Costco)
Taste of the Wild Pet Foods
Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul
4Health (Available only at Tractor Supply Company)
NutraGold Super Premium Holistic Formulas

Just something to consider...it's really, REALLY easy to pass on salmonella. Could it be that the daughter's dog ate it, dealt ok with it, and passed it on to the mother's dog that didn't do ok with it?

Although I understand your level of upset and frustration (I feed TOTW), I really think people might just want to take a breath and step back. If you feel the need to switch, by all means do, but just take a breath and try your best to make a logical, informed decision, not an emotional one.

I am returning everything. I am not going by the bad dates or codes as it seems it is ok one week then recalled the next. It keeps expanding. I had two of my dogs throwing up last night. It may not be related, but who knows.

I have posted on the other link about the food recall also. What FOOD would you recommend to purchase??? It IS so upsetting and frustrating as soooo many of the foods are recalled.

I'm having a hard time too. We have about 1/2 a bag of TOTW (recalled batch) in our food bin, plus another full 30lb bag (recalled batch). All 3 of my dogs have been eating it just fine. As a matter of fact we have been handling it like crazy too, because we have a new puppy here and have been giving it to her as a reward for pottying outside. None of us are in any way sick.

Then the recall came. I went & bought Blue Wilderness (a blue buffalo) brand. Gave them all 1/2 & 1/2 to ease transition and Finn was up sick all night... I felt so bad for him. Poor boy ended up staying outside from 5am on and he hates to be outside alone. I didn't know what to do, so I put him back on the TOTW straight and he is fine... It literally took us months and months to find a food that agreed with him and he liked.

Now I don't know what to do....I can't have him sick, that's not fair to him...
