Actually just got an email from Wellness, they now have a new food out (I think made in their own plant in MO) it's called Simple, for those experiencing allergy issues it may be another avenue. I didn't research it yet, so do your homework but it may be an alternative even for those on the Science Diet or Royal diets.

You write a blog. That's it. Anyone can write a blog.

You have experienced salmonella poisoning in a human, so have I, and it's no walk in the park I'll agree with you there, but did I stop eating chicken? No, I did not.

Symptoms of Salmonella Poisoning:

Salmonellosis in dogs and cats:

The severity of salmonellosis in dogs and cats varies:
http://www.vetmed.wisc.edu/pbs/zoonoses/gik9fel/salmonella.html

subclinical carrier state (most common)
acute enterocolitis
fever, anorexia, lethargy
diarrhea, possibly with mucus or blood
abdominal pain (infection is often associated with mesenteric lymphadenitis)
Cats may present with prolonged periods of fever and anorexia without diarrhea.
septicemia/endotoxemia
Salmonellosis in cats has also been caused "song bird fever," reflecting association with predation on infected migratory birds.

Just exactly how dogs digestion is different from humans:

As for the rest of your comments, back them up with some resources or go get a medical degree. Yes, I trust the educated professional options over yours. Sorry. My dog's health is absolutely my priority, which is why I check into the facts behind options put out there on the web by random people that may or may not be presenting fact or their own opinions. If fact checking and research makes me a risk taker in your book, so be it. I'd rather be educated and aware than uneducated and making assumptions about things I know little about.
You are right I do write a blog but that is not it. I work for a company that answers dog questions on line and each expert is verified by a third company, so please if you have no idea of my occupation don't suggest that you do! I have family in the dog food business where much information comes from and I have family in the FDA control and in the AG control for large animals and many friends in the Vet industry . I am very deeply involved in the animal world, I do not just own a dog and do therapy. Please really that was an attack on my person which was not deserved when I all I am asking is that you to open your mind and think, I am sorry you are so closed minded. Now there is another recall which I see has already been posted in the forum. Do you honestly think it just stops at Diamond's one plant? how lubricious!

Do you think that a young puppy who suffers from severe diarrhea and vomiting from salmonella will survive if the owner has no idea that their dog is that ill? The dehydration along without vet intervention is very serious, a smaller dog would have a drop in blood sugar causing hypoglycemia, which causes seizures coma and death.... and the beat goes on.

And really I did not say I would not give Diamond food again, we take a risk with all foods, animal or human.

The below Diamond Pet Dry Dog Food Brands - To determine if what you have is
affected, you should check the production codes on the back of bags that
have a number "2" or a "3" in the 9th or 10th digit and an "X" in the 11th digit.
The best-before dates for the recalled brands are December 9, 2012 through
April 7, 2013. Please note- not all Diamond brands were produced on the affected plant manufacturing lines. Phillips receives products from numerous Diamond plants. Also, no cat or can skus are affected.
Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul - All skus
Country Value - All Skus
Diamond - All Skus
Diamond Naturals - All Skus
Premium Edge - All Skus
Professional - All Skus
Taste of the Wild - All Skus

I have family in the medical world and cousins that are lawyers..that makes me neither a medical professional or well versed in legal matters.

Again, I ask if you have legit references, please list them. If you are not willing to post them, they really are not worth talking about.

The reason I ask this is so that I can access that same information and draw my own conclusions from it.

Aside from that, I quite obviously disagree with you on several points. I've put my opinion out there. I'm done.

I listed them so draw your own conclusions. I am sorry you are such an angry person and cannot accept others opinions or that you take others opinions as an insult enough that you think you can call people out when you do not even know anything about them. I am very surprised actually that you have not resourced this yourself as you say you look into these matter before making a decision. Do you want others to do the work for you? You are very a accusatory person with someone you do not know and I do not understand your reasoning when all I was doing was asking people to think about things in other terms. I bet you trust your government too without question. You have a long way to go grasshopper. Come back when you have grown up and can listen objectively to others opinions when they are not the same as yours

ENOUGH!!!

This thread is becoming useless. Please stop the attacks and agree to disagree. Go hug your newf and cool off.

Please inform but don't cram it down the throats of those who have another opinion.

Some that aren't recalled:

Nature's Variety
Blue Buffalo
All varieties of Purina (they have a no wheat, corn or soy which are the Pro Plan Selects but no grain free)
Verus

Orijen and Acana, of course.

Heck, there are a lot of them out there.

be thankful grain free in the uk doesn't have a huge variety and even some of the supposedly good ones are a little suspect on some of their ingredients.

good luck with alternatives and let us know which ones you try as it may help others in decididng
