February 3, 2005 to August 1, 2018. Just 2 days shy of 13 1/2.
She was fine yesterday morning when we fed at 4:15 a.m. At 6:30 she ate a bite of toast. At 7 a.m. she refused a cookie. She seemed to be weak. Took her to the vet a 9:30. Blood work showed a slight infection. All the numbers were almost the same as the blood work I had done 2 years ago as a baseline. Last night she would not eat her kibble even with tuna on top. I scrambled her 2 eggs and she ate those. I gave her the meds to vet gave her. This morning would not eat. Started labored breathing off and on around noon. By 6 p.m. she couldn't get comfortable and her breathing was worse. She couldn't stand or walk. I didn't want her to suffer.
So tell me has anyone had a dog that went from acting perfectly healthy to being euthanized within 35 hours? I know these newfs can go fast but this is making my head spin. My vet said she wouldn't have lasted the night.
Godspeed my sweet girl.
