Reading about sweet Chelsea has been inspiring and painful. So thankful for the hunters that saved her and spared her suffering alone in that bog. I cry as I write to you, Pennie, that your sweet friend is no longer in pain, but I hurt for you in your loss. She is no longer hurting. May you find comfort and peace in the coming days and cherish the memories of Chelsea. What a precious legacy she will leave.
I just read this. How devastatingly sad, poor Chelsea. My thoughts are with Penny and family and sincere thanks to those hunters for rescuing her so she could be home with her family, even if for just a short time.
I'm so, so very sorry for your loss Penny. Chelsea touched so many lives...may she rest in peace and you find peace in memories of happier times...God speed...
Edited to add - as I was sitting here crying and thinking about Chelsea and feeling terrible because the pig hearts I sent her probably didn't get there in time - and what on earth is Pennie going to do with a case of pig hearts?, Sandy must have let the dogs back in from their romp outside. The two of them came sneaking into the kitchen where I'm sitting, and each put a soaking wet muzzle on my legs - with accompanying happy whuffling noises. My jeans are now soaked and covered with bits of stick and mud. And I looked down at them and I burst into fresh tears, and said, "I'm so glad you're here!"
I'm sure Chelsea knew her mom felt the same way about her...and she got to spend a few days after her ordeal loved and spoiled and held. Those days were a gift.
