no indication in the book either...

since Harley is a rescue (and of course we contribute to that rescue) and we support CNC I'll just increase my donation.

rescue

Teri,

I have no problem making a donation. For what it's worth, it was not obvious that the book supported newf rescue. I went on the web page for the book itself and I could not find anywhere on the website where it indicated that proceeds from the book were going to support rescue.
The arrangements with Newf Rescue are two-fold and the author is waiting to hear from one of the 2 rescues. Unfortunately, it isn't on the website, but perhaps the website can be updated.

Anyone care to share what rescue they are planning on supporting? I know Ladybug is supporting CNC. I sent my donation to Newf Rescue - New England..... (owed a donation for Victoria's book anyway, so just doubled it)....

Glad that Newf Rescue is going to benefit from this swap!

No where in the book does it suggest that proceeds from the sale will be going to Newf Rescue and Tina I'm sure your response has nothing to do with the fact that you are mentioned in the acknowledgement.

To be perfectly candid though I would not support Newf Rescue at this time as I myself have a rescue to support which, at the moment, is sadly lacking in funds. I'm not saying that I'm upset that I ended up supporting a rescue but I think that it should be made clear that we are and that we should have the choice as to whether or not we want to.

Susan, I am pleased and flattered to be noted in the acknowledgements, but I am not Bill's agent and I have no vested interest in how the book does. Anything I say or do is solely out of my respect for Bill and Ingrid. I honestly don't think Bill would have issue, and I certainly don't, if a contribution to a rescue other than Newf rescue was made. And then it would be entirely up to each individual to contribute - or not - because not everybody has the means to make that contribution. There are so many people just now who are feeling the consequences of the current economic times, myself included. Unfortunately, the decision to contribute a % of proceeds and discussions with the rescues in question came after publication so no one would have had any way to know. You should also know that the % in question is coming out of what Bill would have made on the book. If you have any other questions or concerns, please send me a PM.
Me - not missing the old neighbourhood!!!

Tina I have no concerns but I think you would agree that you would certainly like to know in advance if you are supporting a particular rescue. I realize now that this was decided after publishing. The fact that I have Newfs in my family does not mean that I support all Newf Rescues. By the same token I have cats and I certainly do not support a good number of the cat rescues out there. My response to you was because of your first post which did not mention anything about proceeds but rather suggested that no one here is an author.

I think that the swap is a great idea but I also think that the groups people chose to support is personal and the only person I feel the need to share my charitable donations with is my accountant.

Yes I haven't done a whole of donating lately due to current economic times.

Come on you miss the old neighbourhood?

donations shouldn't have to be just monetary, there are plenty of other ways to help. fundraising, food or blankets even items they could sell perhaps as not everyone has spare cash so alternatives should be just as suitable

You are absolutely right. Our local shelter is always looking for help with cat/dog foods, kitty litter, etc. Donations needn't be monetary. There are many ways to help out.

Mine came in today and I'm done. Sat right down and devoured it- hubby away, time to myself. Great story and a little info about my boy's parentage. Neat!

I received mine yesterday. AND... I just noticed that the first reader was none other than the person, Zuki, who rescued our Weezie! How kool is that!

I was planning to read it yesterday, but bakery business seemed to suck up the day. Maybe after skiing today. It was fun to show Mudji the pictures of his dad, Rimshot!

Will do something to help rescue, and maybe have some cash to buy my own copy this year!

L.a.t.g.

Just a thought - maybe someone should ask the author for a copy. ?? Fast delivery, book will be autographed .. Only problem is that he has to earn an income so the book will cost $17.50.

These books that are circulating are doing alot of good for rescue. The idea of circulating them was - each recipient would make a donation of time, services, money - whatever they could do, to support rescue. This helps rescue orgs so much more than going to the library and borrowing books.

I thought we covered this already. :banghead:
