Howdy folks,
I thought i would share the story about how Seamus learned to swim
Seamus is nearly 5 months old now and we have been going to the beach since we got him home, on those occasions it was obvious he loved the water, he would be in out with lots of splashing but he never went quite deep enough where he would need to swim. I had been planning to get the wetsuit on and get in with him at some stage but maybe another month
Anyhow last Sunday i decided to take him to a forest with one of my mates (eddie if you are reading this, yeah it was Glenbower woods) We set off on our walk and it wasn't long before we reached the first river, it had been raining a bit for the previous few days so there was a decent flow and it was probably about a foot and a half deep. Seamus jumped in without a second thought only to be taken downstream by the current, a few feet down there was a fallen tree blocking about 95% of the river. He was heading straight for the tree when he thought better of the situation and tried to swim out of it, unfortunately the current was so strong that even when his best efforts he wasnt moving at all, just barely managing to stay 6'' up from the tree. he was trying to swim to me on the near bank but just want moving, at this stage i had jacket off and one foot in the river ready to jump when my my mate had run up stream, crossed over a bridge and managed to get to him on the far side. He pull him out and all was well.
Seamus didnt seem to bothered by his near death experience, just shook himself off and continued with his explorations. Next river crossing he was straight in to the river again... Dont know is brave or just a bit thick. At least he doenst seem to have any water fear after the episode.
