Scarlet's first show

We are entering our first show this Sunday in Fitchburg, MA. Puppy class under 9 months. We are very nervous. Wish us luck! Not to win...just to have a good time and not embarrass ourselves! :eek:

I'm sure you are nervous but hopefully you can relax and have fun. Scarlet will do great!!! Let us know how she does!!! My fingers are crossed for her.

Good luck to the both of you. Just remember, when you go into the ring, take a deep breath, exhale slowly and smile! When the judge first talks to you, use this opportunity to simply let him/her know "this is the first time in the ring for the both of us."

Darn!! Gabe and I just had our first show in Leesburg, and I was told NOT to tell the judge it was our first show. According to this person you can not tell the judge anything that could possible sway their perception of you or your dog. You will not believe how quickly it is over, once you get in the ring. I could have used a drink and a smoke before entering the ring - and I haven't smoked in over 15 years.....wondering why I am doing this to myself and my beloved dog. I was congratulated by some for a good first time and then received very nasty remarks from others, so wear your thick skin, it can get ugly out there. Best of luck!!

This is the thing I am the most afraid of...I do not tolerate inappropriate behavior...I will need to keep my thoughts to myself if someone gets ugly...or it might get REALLY ugly! I am so sorry that this happened to you. I have heard of these stories...but I will not let myself become one of them. I hope you have a better time in the future.

Just have fun with her. Don't worry about anyone else in the ring or anyone else standing around commenting. Have fun with your girl and know that at the end of the day win or lose you get to take the best dog home with you!!! Mojo and I are still big time newbies but we're having fun and not taking it all too seriously.

(and if anyone insults her, you let me know. I live in New Jersey...and, you know...I know some people. In the 'waste disposal business'. Just sayin'. Scarlet's family, and we take care of our own. :lol:)
