Raising funds for Zuzu's knee surgery

A number of people have asked me for PayPal or other donation info for Zuzu's next surgery, which will be her 5th since June 2012. After 4 surgeries on her left, she has now completely blown her cruciate and patella on the right, requiring surgery. She had this same surgery on the left last June so I am familiar with the costs involved.

Her left leg has a temporary bar and pins on the exterior, holding the leg in a neutral position to prevent her from over using it. She needs to have it removed by end of April, preferably before.

We've run out of insurance money, which won't renew until end of May (IF they choose to renew us, which I suppose they may well not). Care credit is maxed out with costs insurance did not cover.

So as uncomfortable as I am with asking for money, I did set up a page where anyone who's interested can donate to PayPal. At the same time I applied to the NCA Emergency fund, so if by chance there's overage it will go right back to NCA for Newf rescue.

I am open to other ideas on how to raise money; I've listed some of our family antique furniture with a local consignment shop, cut our expenses to the minimum (no dates, no eating out, no new clothing, etc.), we're heating our house with scrounged firewood, and made some inquiries for contract work I can do in the evenings.

Thanks all for listening.

I will hold a "Groom Your Pet Newfie" seminar at my shop in Falmouth, MA. on a Sunday in March. I'm looking at the 10th, 17th or 24th as potential dates. I can accomodate about 10-12 people and potentially do 3-4 Newfs for full grooming from pre-bathing brush out to finish trims. You'll have an opportunity to learn to do a 'pet' trim and get tips on how to shape, thin and tidy up your dog, do nails, get nice little cat paws and tackle trouble spots. You can try out my grooming tools: clippers, different blades, combs, shears and thinners. You can also try different shampoos, conditioners, deshedding solutions and coat enhancing spray on conditioners. I'll provide light refreshments or we can walk across the street and have mimosas/bloody mary's at the cafe across the street. A donation of $50 to have your dog groomed or $25 to audit and learn ear and feet trims on my dogs is suggested. Let me know if you're interested and dates that work for you. All proceeds will go towards Zuzu's surgery/rehab fund.

In addition, I'll groom your dog for free anywhere in New England for the next month. All I'll need is a clean dog or a reasonable bathing area and an electrical outlet for my blower. My usual and customary fee will be waived for your donation of that amount to ZuZu's fund. Email me for details and available dates, lawlesspatricia@hotmail.com

Tricia, you really blow me away. From offering to drive from the Cape to Melrose to help me get Cooper down the stairs (y'all remember that? LOL!) to this...words can't express my gratitude.

Shhhhh, Mary, you'll blow my status as a curmudgeon. Actually, not long ago I had to make some tough choices about how much I could afford when Lu's knee repair went wonky and needed a re-do. Luckily, I had already just gone back to work after my own knee replacement (due to an old ACL injury.) I can work 12 hour days during high season but things are slow here in the winter and I can offer my time. I'm a 'make hay when the sun shines" type. I wouldn't be able to do this in the summer.

Scarlet wanted to donate all of her birthday money to ZuZu..Scarlet turns 4 today and I can't imagine how hard it is to struggle with providing essential medical care for our Newf's..Scarlet's donation was made from the heart and we look forward to connecting with Tricia for some doggie day spa time!!:groovy:

I am thinking the 24th of March for the Grooming Seminar. The NCNE Winter Draft Test is the weekend of the 9th and 10th and the Cabin Fever Fun Event is the 17th. I'm thinking I'll groom Brandie's Maggie on the 17th and then talk them into coming to the Cabin Fever party in Hooksett since it's just up the road a' piece from Brandie's place (and Maggie can show off her snazzy new(f) do.)

Oh yeah, Suzanne....baby Shelby. New Englanders, this is one of Mary K.'s little monkeys from her latest litter. Who wants some adorable PUPPY time??!!!!
