prayers needed

I am asking for prayers for my daughter-in-law. She is having a baby that is due in October. It has taken her 2 years to get pregnant and finally she conceived thru invitro.
The ultrasound done last month shows a skeletal problem with the baby. The legs are crooked and are short. The next ultrasound show that there is a possibility of brittle bone disease. Her last ultrasound shows that the ribs are on the small side. Monday she is going for another ultrasound. We are all praying that the ribs are growing because if they remain small the baby won't live. My son and daughter-in-law are just beside themselves. Please pray that they have some good news.
Thanks all

All good thoughts from here. We tried for 4 years, 8 miscarriages, finally had my DD through IVF...and when pregnant I could not believe how negative the medical professionals I encountered were, for the most part. Hopefully these are just naysayers and alarmists making trouble where there's none.

FWIW on an ultrasound a dr once told me my DD had a long femur, short legs, large head (all markers for Down's, I think?) and I said, "Have you LOOKED at me lately?" I have short legs, big head, etc...

Oh, I am so sorry to read this. They will be in my prayers. Just remember that while ultrasounds are AMAZING and can show us incredible things, there are some things that you just don't know about until the baby is born. I hope the pictures either turn out perfectly and the ribs are growing or that they have been wrong all along and the baby will be perfectly healthy.

Please keep the prayers coming. Every time they go for an ultrasound the news just keep getting worse. My son is trying to stay positive. But when he talks to me I know how upset he is, but he puts on a brave face for his wife.

Good thoughts and prayers coming from here. My fourth grandgirl indicated difficulties on her ultrasounds. Thought she had actually died. She is a bouncing, trouble making, happy 2 year old now! Lots of prayers coming your way.

My sons just called and the news is not good. The baby's ribs did not grow. This could mean that the baby will die shortly after birth. She is going to have another ultrasound in 2 weeks. She is due in Oct. Please keep the prayers coming. I am heartbroken.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Miracles do happen. My cousin was told her baby would not live and she should consider medical termination of the pregnancy. Thankfully she decided to let nature take its course and she has a beautiful and healthy 4 year old little girl. I hope this will be true for your family as well.

This happened with my sister. Her third child, they detected an abnormality in the amnio and told her and her husband that the child would be "a monstrosity" (their words) and that she should terminate.

Hannah Mary was born at just 26 weeks, 2 lbs, spent her first few weeks in a nICU and had to be tube-fed until some abnormalities in her digestive tract were repaired (several surgeries till she was 5).

She is 16 yeas old today, still small in stature (medical professionals think this is linked to her genetic abnormality), but smart, happy, quick, a gymnast and accomplished equestrian. She's starting to think about college.

Miracles do happen. I hope your son and DIL have one too.

That is such a happy ending, I'm glad that she had a happy ending and I hope another miracle can happen with this baby.

thank you for the prayers and encouraging stories. When my daughter-in-law got pregnant she asked me to make her a baby blanket. I have one special pattern that I make for my grandchildren. I am going to go ahead and make it. Whatever the outcome is they will have the blanket they requested. But after I make this I will never use that pattern again. Just keep the prayers coming.

Apparently I should never have survived three months too early and less than 2lb. Hang on in there miracles do happen
