Hi guys, New2Newfs said most of it. We also get involved with wood, car, and garden projects. More projects started than finished. We like slalom skiing and wakeboarding on water, but won't consider snow especially after what reportedly happened to MJ. Got hooked on indoor go-cart racing last year. Got unhooked fast after running-up nearly $300 in track fees one month. N2N subsequently cut-up my racing license.

Now I've found newf-net and I'm cured. ( Umm, go-carts are less expensive...never mind... I didn't say that...)

Basically, at work, I'm a professional shopper. I lead a small band of yahoos responsible for securing a continuous supply of aromatic stuff derived from roots, barks, berries and an assortment of other obscure cultivated crops. Kind of interesting, actually. Spend a lot of time wondering about weird weather patterns on all four corners of the earth.

Love these newfs and these days I really enjoy the personalities and sincerity of all of my newf net friends!

Hello Everyone I'm one of the newbies Maria. It's great to read about everyone. I live on a 10 acre hobby farm (as most of you know)with a whole mess of humans and critters
Let's see if I can get them straight:
My husband Mike and we have been married for almost 3 yrs, my stepson Aaron who is turning 12 on the 12th of May (Happy Golden B'day!) my son Chris who is turning 12 in July (heaven help me) my daughter Melanie and she is 7 and my beautiful baby Johnny who is 19 mon. Well okay they all are beautiful if you ask me ;) Well on to the critters. There's the kitty we got with the house Annie. (Isn't that cool? A house with a kitty included??
) Then there's Willie our Cockapoo? sp? I personally have never heard of that breed but my dh insists it exists. I just think it's a x between a Cocker Spaniel sp? and a poodle. But anyway back on subject, and my beautiful new baby newf Lourdes. Oh and about 25 chickens (sorry I lost count of them things
) and I think that's it. Have I forgotten anyone  I don't think so.

It's nice to meet you all :D

Hi all

My name is Mary. My husband Dave and I have been married for 11 years and have three daughters, Michaela (9), Jill (7) and Hannah (3). Dave is an electrician's apprentice and is about to take his Journeyman's test on May 12th. I am a stay at home mom.
We have a grey Newf, Deacon, who will be 2 years old at the end of May. We originally were looking for a Landseer, but got too anxious and once we saw Deacon, could not resist him! We also have two cats, Blitzen and Nala. We will be adding a hamster to the family, but Michaela has to wait until dad gets a job again. I am not overly fond of small critters (I much prefer Newfs), but she has been wearing us down. We are giving in.
We are also from Minnesota. Just got back from the Timberwolves game. On to round 2! Go Wolves!

Hi!

My wife Cheryl and I will have been married for 27 years in June. I am a University Professor and Department Head. Cheryl is a full-time homemaker, raising our 4 daughters - the oldest and youngest celebrate their 26th and 11th birthdays this month.

We've had dogs all of our married lives (up to 3 at once), but did not get our first Newf until Fall 2000. Gracie will be 4 next month. After our first Italina Greyhound died, we got our male Newf Brig, who is almost 2 1/2 now. Our second IG died last year, so we just have the two Newfs. The Newfoundland is definitely our breed now! Gracie and Brig are our first "show dogs", but we consider ourselves to be amateur handlers. Gracie just needs her majors to finish her championship - we plan to try hard to finish her this summer.

In February, we tried our hand at breeding Gracie, but it didn't take. The stud dog owners have agreed to repeat the breeding attempt in the Fall. Newfnetters have been a great source of information and advice as we try our hand at this new venture within Newfdom.

Well I did a little intro when I originally joined this extremely interesting forum but I guess I need to expand slightly - so here goes and I can prattle on!
Firstly based just North of Johannesburg in South Africa. Live here with the lady I courted for the last 36 years and married to for 28, Shirley, have 2 boys sorta grown up (well they think so !) aged 22 and 24, and have always been a BIG dog lover.
First one was a cross English Mastiff St Bernhard was a 190 pounder, he passed at age 13 and a half, also had a Bouvier, Sheba who spanned him and our first Newfie, Bismarck. Sheba got cancer at 11 and that was sooo sad and then last year Bismarck also had something similar - we were devastated as it came from nowhere without warning! He was still in the peak of health although he was on his way to 13 then.
In the meantime we had "inherited" a little English Hunting hound who has more energy than is conceivably possible, Tyler and she is sort of helping with our newest Newfie Merlin who just turned 6 months yesterday.
We are still learning what the newest addition's character is all about and hopefully he is going to stop growing at the current rate really soon! As I mentioned elsewhere he has passed the 100lb mark and is built a bit like a brick outhouse and is a really solid pup - ask Tyler when they play and she runs into him!
I can't seem to get the avatar to work consistently, but did post some pics to the pics forum.

I've been married for about 6 months to Natalie, the love of my life. We've bought a fixer upper, and it seems that I have become more the fixer than I intended ;) I am a mechanical engineer, and Natalie is a CAD Engineer. We have one pup, Gus, our basset hound. He is the funniest thing, makes us laugh at least once a day.

Right now I am newfless, but that is about to change :D We are picking up our pup next weekend. His name is Gandalf, a grey and white landseer. Not all that common, and certainly not to the standard, but I never had any show intentions anyhow

I have a bunch of hobbies, too many in all reality. There isn't enough time in the year to get to them all. And that was before I got hitched ;) Anyhow, a short list: fishing, backpacking, camping, woodworking, restoring and customizing cars, and photography.

I have been married for 18 yrs and have twin boys that are now at the wonderful age of 15!
I have a female newf, Rory, and three labs. AJ is a 11 1/2 yr old black, and Chloe that is soon to be 8 yrs old. She is a yellow lab. And then there is Gaby that is 5 yr old female black lab. All the dogs get along great, except when Chloe is trying to be the bossy "mom" to Rory!
This is such a great board and I am glad I found it. I feel like everyone here is my extended family!!

Hi!
My name is Linda and hubby of 34 years is Walt. We have 2 grown kids, Stacy & Geal, a granddaughter (our son's significant other's daughter), and a grandson due in July. Walt works for the Dept of the Navy and is also a commercial lobsterman. I'm an elementary school librarian.
We got our first Newf in 1984 and have been hooked since then. Stacy and I have shown and bred Newfs since 1988. Presently we've got 5 Newfs- Vicki (almost 9 years old), Summit (8 1/2 yrs old), Cassie (3 1/2 yrs), Dale (3 yrs), and Amy (3 yrs).
Hobbies, in addition to the dogs, are reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and gardening.
Lately I've been just a lurker. I usually become more active in the summer when I've got more time.
NN is a great place and the people here are terrific!

My husband and I have been married 23 years (2nd marriage for both). Between us we had 6 children, which includes two sets of twins. We each lost one single son Scott and Keith. Lisa and Laura are married and have given us 3 beautiful grandchildren Kim, Nick and Alex.
Chris and Bryan both are married but no children yet. After owning a golden for 10 years, we are now the proud "mom and dad" to our newfy furkids, Kodi 3 yrs old (from a rescued litter) and Riley 2 yrs old, whom we got at 10 mths of age. Just like potato chips, you can't have just one! :D Hobbies are knitting, gardening and taking pictures of the "boys"!

I'm still new here I guess, though I don't post every much. I read all the replies on this topic and everyone seems so nice!

My name is Dana, I'm 21. Not married, no husband, no kids etc etc etc. I live wiht my dogs in Northern California, Maple - basset hound, Fey - Mix, Kip - rabbit, Mowz - cat. I lost my Newfie mix 2 1/2 years ago to cancer. I've been waiting and looking for a landseer for over a year.
I studied to be a web designer but then realized I didn't like computers so now I'm only a web person as a hobbie. I'm a dog trainer now and I also make short films about wild animals. My new project is about a family of ducks (since is spring and all), it's pretty sad so far as some of the babbies were killed by nature... :(
Someday I would like to film wolves, wild horses and animals in Africa, Australia and teh sea etc etc.

When I do get my Landseer puppy I am for sure going to put working titles on him. I would also like to show him so for those of you who show, groom, judge, train etc anything you can tell me, tips, advice anything would be great! I am still learning about the wonderful world of Newfoundlands!

Hi everyone,

It's so fun to read about everyone. My wife Sam and I have been married 11 years. We're expecting our first baby in less than two months.
We have one newf, Hallie. She's our second. Hallie's two years old and a bundle of energy. We also have an 11 year old chocolate lab named Cody.
We live in Wisconsin. I really enjoy newfnet, and don't get here as often as I'd like. It's a great resource. Thanks

Hi everyone.

We're Eric and Kim (30's), our daughter Quincy (2.5) and our brand new son Teague (34 days). We're new newf parents as of Friday evening to an almost 9 month old female named Stella. We live in the suburbs of Chicago where I (Eric) work in administration at a neurosurgery hospital. Kim is a health care consultant who turned into a stay at home mom when our daughter was born. We've been married almost 4 years.

Our first newf experiences came via MJ (alexmaddie) who is getting married in a few short weeks to my old roommate, Al. Anyone who has met Maddie knows why we decided on a newf as a playmate/guardian for our kids.
