Wow so many Newfie lovers! I'm Liz (Flatwalk) and belong to Club Newf, which is where I found out about this website.

I'm owned by only one Newf - Mo, 7 1/2 y.o. We also have a Golden (about 11 or 12 y.o.), Woody(Sheltie - 9 y.o.), Lucy (St. Bernard) 7),Dudley (Briard) 7, and Casey, Dalmation - 5. Lucy, Casey and Cory are rescues.

We also have 11 horses. 4 are rescues, one's a small pony for my grandkids. Tom and I have been married 26 years. We have 5 kids and 6 grandkids, and one on the way.

Thanks for having yet another resource for Newfie lovers!

O.K. Didn't see this thread before. But Here goes!My name is Karen and I was born in Newfoundland. That makes me a Newfoundlander or a Newfie :D as well.I answer to both!! I have lived in Ontario for a little over 20 years and just last year moved 'down east' to New Brunswick.I have been married to Miles for 15 years, and we have 3 Boys, ages 13,11 and 7.We are newf-less at the moment.(I'm workin on it).We WERE owned by James a black newf who sadly died in Jan of this year due to Kidney problems. He was my everything.I wished and prayed for him for so long. The one thing I did learn from him is, If God owns a Dog.It has to be a Newf!! They truly are gentle giants of the Canine world. As it was already said,Their souls are in their eyes,(Truly).Owning a newf is like eating peanuts.Once you start,ya can't stop.I stumbled into newf.net while searching for breeders.Wonderful place, the people here are as kind as their dogs.We really do Laugh, Cry and Cheer together.Come on in,and pull up a chair.Karen

Hello everyone
I cain't believe we missed this thread..oops! I'm Diane and I'm married to Jeff (Logan) for almost 12 years. Jeff works in communications and I was in electrical engineering but got bored so I now am a clinical co-ordinator at the hospital. I currently am in acclerated college coarses trying to get my MBA during the evenings while Jeff usually is the one who corresponds in NN the most.
We live in Lancaster County Pennsylvania on a 15 acre lot surrounded by the Amish community with Tonka the man e man! black shar-pei, Kiefer the 8 month old Landseer with personality plus! and the 3 musketeers:Tyler,Chelsea & Wanda the felines that have a full staff of their own (or so they think) heehee.
We enjoy anything that allows us to bring our children (Tonka & Kiefer) with us - because they are our family. Tonka loves supporting and cheering on Kiefer in his obidence classes. Kiefer newly completed his CGC @ 7months and we are now prepairing him for TDI. I would like to do therapy work with Kiefer at my hospital because there is a great need for it here. Jeff would like to do draft work eventually with Kiefer, but as we both agree - it's entirely up to Kiefer what he would like to do. We are experimenting to see his responses currently in water work. I think if it was up to Kiefer what he wants - it would be 24/7 with DADDY
while Tonka and mommy can go play somewhere else :lol:Hello to everyone and welcome aboard to all! this is an awesome fountain of information, support, suggestions etc.. we are so grateful for Newf Net - heck we only buy according to reccomendations based on Newf Net input! heehee, lets see, new vehicle, vaccuum, blow dryer, flooring, and the list goes on...happy newfing!

Hi everyone! I'm Kathy. My husband, Scott, and I just had our 10th anniversary. We have two children: Eleanor, who is six and Hugh is three. They both have a disease called cystinosis. Please see www.cystinosis.org to read more about this very rare and often misdiagnosed disease. I am a pharmaceutical research scientist
and Scott is a teacher/adventurer!

Anyhow, we have our second Newf, Bison. He is coming up on five months old and is the sweetest little furball. Our first Newf, Seaman, died at only 20 months old this summer while on the trail with the Lewis and Clark Expedition in Missouri. We miss you Seaman! Baby Bison is out on the trail right now with my husband, who portrays Capt. Lewis for the bicentennial. We don't have any other animals right now, but we used to have Weimaraners and I still have a soft spot for them, altho' they are kind of crazy compared to the mellow Newfs I know!

I have to thank Sailorgirl for showing me this site....

I am new here but here's my short story....I am JIll married to Ryan 9 years 2 kids (human) Jeremy 7 and Valerie 4..1 mix breed (?) dog Allie-Gator...1 fat cat Major.... And the newest..Skylar 9 week old Newfie, big, black and beautiful! She is a dream come true.....I have been a lover of the breed since a child and finally after my first love Sara Died this year at the age of 13, my husband suprized me and said it was time to get one.

So here I am hoping to learn first hand instead of a book how it is to be a newfie mom.

Looking forward to the ride...any advice, tips, stories are very much welcomed!!!!

Welcome, Jeva. It's nice to "meet" you. Can't wait to see pics of your new baby, too! I wish we'd known about newfies when our children were young. We had plenty of other dogs and cats, but I'd never even SEEN a real live newf back then. Now we have our two newf sisters and can't imagine life without them.

Hi Everyone!
My name is (also) Paula and I've been married to Larry for 5 years. We were married in a beautiful cathedral in Brugges, Belgium (why? Just because!) We currently reside in the DC metropolitan area (we love traffic NOT!) We have no human children, just Halifax (aka Halli, Muffin, Halibut, Angel, Ding-dong, Smooshy, Doofus...the list goes on -- but when she is really bad, it's HaliFAAAAAAAAAAAAAX), the Landseer.

Halli is the pride and joy of my existence. She is perhaps the most spoiled dog on the planet, but that's ok with me!

I've traveled all over the world, courtesy of my employer, lived in the UK for several years, and traveled on business to Germany, France and India, and countless states domestically.

Having grown up with St. Bernards, I knew I needed another big dog to share my life with, but the timing was never right, and I was always traveling -- but that all changed after 9/11 when I was a WTC survivor. That day, I got my priorities straight, got off the road, and started seriously looking for a Big Dog -- did alot of research and decided on a Newfoundland. A year later, Halli came into our lives, and we couldn't be more happy.

I love Newfnet - but don't get to spend as much time here as I'd like. I'd love to meet everyone in person one day -- although I feel like I know alot of you just through the posts.

Hello everyone

My name is Patti. My husband (Mike) and I are owned by Ashes (7mo. old "little: Newfie girl) and Tucker (5yr old Golden Retr), McLeod (9yr old Silver Tabby cat) and The Fish (African Ciclids)

We live in Santa Maria, CA...the weather is pretty darn nice here, close to beaches and lakes...places Newfies just love.

I've had giant breed dogs previously..Newfie and Great Pyr...and I think they are just the greatest in the world. Our newest family member, Ashes, is learning how to be a "good girl," although she has her moments. Plans are to continue obedience, water work, drafting and therapy work.

We look forward to "meeting" and talking to everyone here. We would like to learn all we can, share any information we may have and make some Newfie Good Friends.

Newfoundly,

Patti, Mike, Ashes, Tucker,
McLeod and The Fish :D
