Since we have SOOO many new members lately, I thought it would be nice if we each posted just a little something about ourselves and our critters, to break the ice and make them feel welcome. I'll start:

Hello...
We have three dogs and four cats. Two of the dogs are newfs, who are half-sisters (same sire, different mothers). They are Maggie (3 years old) and Lucy (almost 3 years old). Our other dog is an old lady, Haley, who is a dob/lab/shep mix and is 14 years old. We are officially "Newf Nuts!" and would be happier if we could have a dozen or so of these happy, goofy dogs. Don't have the facilities for that right now, though, so we're just enjoying these two.

Hi and welcome to all the new members.

Im Roisin, I am 29, my husband is Jesse we have been married for four and a half years. We are owned by Ozzy our 19 month old Newf who is undoubtably the joy and light of our lives and his sweet and wonderful Kitty brothers Giles and HEnry who will be three in September. ( and currently we are bunny-sitting for Chopper the dwarf french Lop who is very cute and Ozzy desperately wants to play with him!)
Newf Net rocks, everyone is so kind and supportive and just plain wonderful. Ozzy has been through surgery and I know I could not have handled it without my Newf Net support. And of course I must mention that the knowledge shared here is tremendous and I know it has made such a positive impact in Ozzy's life.
I hope you all jump right in and as the inimitable Giddy would say "enjoy the ride!"

Thanks to New2Newfs for getting this rolling!

Geeeesh you guys!
i have only been married five years! LOL
good job raising those kids and sticking with marriage!
we have currently, six newfs, my favorite, as no one can tell is the landseer variety, we worked our newfs in SAR years ago, both my websites tell a lot about us, they are in my sig.
newfoundlands have been my passion since 1986 when we brought home our first, a grey, it was downhill from there, got a black male a year later, showed in dual rings, and from there on, i have studied structure and pedigrees etc...
lots of work went into what i do today, it helped having a background in working at vet clinics, and also being a groomer and owning my own shop and grooming the total of 15 years.
i am on a new venture now only groom part time.
but i have learned so much and still am learning.
i love my newfs, i love all newfs.
you can see their soul when you look into their eyes.
;)

Henry is our first and only newf at this time! He is black, 18 months old and absolutely the sweetest thing in the world! We would love another, well lots more, but the timing has not been right, so for now we will enjoy our big bundle of love!

Newf Net is the best place I have ever found! The people here are so knowlegable and kind and they LOVE their Newfs!

Hi there...

I live in Dayton, Ohio with my husband Russell and our 3 newfs. As of May 21st, Russell & I will have been married for 10 years. It's hard to imagine.... it seems just like yesterday that I was caught up in wedding & honeymoon plans. Little did I know that in a few short years, our world would be consumed with Newfs!

Our 1st Newf, Cora, came to us at the age of 10 months in September of 1998. She is such a very good girl... so sweet, and obedient... and so very gentle. We were hooked. About a year later, after a horiffic car accident, we were asked to foster a Newf named Sadie Mae... which we eagerly agreed to. After fostering Sadie for a few days, we knew that she belong with us forever, and started the adoption proceedings....

Sadly, Sadie died suddenly at the age of 3, and after a month or so, we adopted Kira, and then Sailor another year later. Since then, we have opened our home to several foster newfs.... all of which will have a permanant place in my heart.

As you can probably tell... Rescue is a way of life for us.
We are devoted to it.... and to newfs.... and this is why I was very very glad to find Newf Net, and the wonderful group of people that hang out here. We all have our love and passion for the Newfoundland Breed in common... and we understand each other's need to celebrate that passion....

Welcome Aboard to all the Newbies.... you're going to really like it here! :D

Hi all,

I'm Sandy. Doug and I have been married for almost 18 years. We belong to Gus the Great Pyrenees (I call him "Goose"), Sabrina the Rescue Newf (I call her "Weener") whom we adopted from Annie and Russel almost a year ago, one red-eared Slider named Daryl, three rabbits (Chunky, Spunky, & Fuzzy) and assorted goldfish.

I came to NN @ Annie's suggestion. I usually don't have much to say, but this has been a great place to learn about the new furball in our family. Sabrina was abused and very timid and upset when she came to us. Someone did a real number on her emotionally. She has made a great turn-around and is now Doug's best friend. She could care less about me now.

Gus is a certified Therapy Pet and I would like to get Sabrina certified if we can just get her over a few more of her fears. Gus has really helped her in overcoming her emotional problems. He has virtually no fear and she has learned a lot from watching him.

All in all, Sabrina has been a blessing to our family. We all love her very much and are very fortunate to have her.

Hi new comers,

I am Jeannie and my husband of almost 9 years is Gary. He has 4 girls but WE have 4 grandkids. Yes I skipped the kid part and went straight to the grandkid part.

We are currently owned by 4 newfs. Samantha, a rescue, age 7 1/2. Panda a landseer and also a rescue, age 10 3/4. Adam, a black, is 2 1/2 years. Chase, also black, just turned 6 months. Our first newf Sara was also a rescue. Sadly we had to help her over the rainbow bridge on March 20, 2004 five weeks shy of her 13th birthday. She will always live in our hearts and memories.

We also have one Saint who we rescued from the pound. She was labeled "mean, aggressive and unadoptable" and was put on death row. She is a real sweetie and just needed some love and food.

We live in Ohio on almost 9 acres with Paddle Paws Pond, a place for our newfs to swim and play. I am a groomer, I own by own shop along with a 32 run indoor/outdoor boarding facility. We also have a 40 X 60 indoor play/training room. We are involved with newf rescue having fostered 6 newfs in the last 2 years. Gary is the assistant animal control officer (dog warden)for our county.

I have shown Samantha in obedience (she has 3 titles). Adam, Panda and Samantha have been trained for drafting. All have their Draft Dog titles. Sam and Panda have their Team draft dog titles. Adam is showing in conformation as well as obedience at this time. Chase is training for Water resce as well as starting her career in conformation

Welcome aboard. Everyone here is like family--no one is a stranger.

Hi, I'm Anne and live in Western Mass. in a log house with 2 Newfs (Angus and Gracie,2 yr & 1 yr) who are 1/2 siblings)a cat and my (insert euphemism) Dave. We've been together for 9 years. Previously married for 20 yrs and have 4 beautiful grown daughters and 2 beautiful grandsons. Born in Newfoundland and grew up in Canada,Ohio and New England.Have wanted a Newf all my life, but my mom,"the other Newf" didn't like big, messy dogs. Go figure! Kept warning me..."they're HUGE" in her funny accent!
But did I care?? This is the best site on the web. I feel like I'm not so crazy after all.

Hello all and welcome. I am Gwyn, I have been with my hubby for 11 years we have been married 7 and a half.
We live in Issaquah Wa, which is in the very foot hills of the cascades. We have an acre and a half with a lake, from which our dogs have been banned since last summer (quit laughing Sar).
We got our first newf, Skykomish, 2 and a half years ago. Four months later she was stolen from our Kennel. Our breeders gave us pick from their next litter. Boagoschiel (aka Boagie) will be 2 on Sunday.
We also have Baby, a dane/lab I found dumped on the side of the road just before Boagie came She was not more than 4 weeks at the time. We celebrate her birthday the same day as Boagies.
I have recently gotten into newf rescue so currently we also have Dolly who is 7 years old. She is foster but it seams likely we will be her forever home.
In addition to the dogs, we are proudly owned by 3 cats, Edgar, Ichiro, and Bootsy, and one horse, Cookie. She is also a rescue.
Newfoundlands are amazing dogs with hearts as big as they are. They have a wonderful sense of humor, are some times too smart for their own good, and the most compassionate breed I have ever encounterd. The people on Newf Net are as amazing as this breed we all love so much. So get ready to laugh, cry, learn, teach and become friends with a wonderful group of people.

Hi Everyone - I'm Liz (hard to figure from my screen name, huh?) and my boyfriend Bob and I live in Huber Heights, Ohio (a stone's throw from Annie and Russell). We are the proud and delighted parents of Troy, a 5 yr old (?) rescue, who came to use almost a year ago through Annie and Russell. He was a mess when they got him (68 lbs and no hair on his belly or legs), but he has since rallied beautifully (as a matter of fact, I had to put him on a diet a while back).
Annie suggested I join newf.net and I'm also grateful to her for that. This is a wonderful place, full of laughter, tears, information, etc. Welcome to all you newbies - I warn you - this can become an addiction. Oh - hey Dogger - why on earth would you deny your WATER DOGS access to a lake on your property???
(snort, gasp)! I'm sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself!

Hi everyone! I'm Kelly and I live in northern IL. My hubby and I are the proud parents of Dreyfuss-the Golden Retreievr who will soon be 12, Owen the 15 month old newf, Daphne the 2.5 YO kitty and our 5.5 YO son, Collin. I've been a hair stylist for 16 (OMG has it been that long???) years. I stumbled across this board before Owen came home to us. At that time I still had not convinced my hubby that we should have 2 dogs. I already knew I my next dog would be a Newf, just wasn't sure of when it would be! After much perseverance and nagging ;) I finally got my husband to agree to adding a second dog. And now...well...I think he talks more to the dogs than he does me!!!

You will soon find this board to be one of your favorite places to be. I go through withdrawal if I'm not here at least once a day! We have a very diverse group of people with one thing in common-we LOVE our Newfs! So, come on in and join us!

Falite from Ireland to all our new members welcome to a great place to ask questions, have a chat or generally have a good time.

My name is Roisin (incase you didnt see :D ). I live in Co Laois, Ireland with my significant other of nearly 11 years, we are not married yet but maybe soon. I keep finding more important thinks to spend the money on, like newfies, newfie collars, newfie toys, newfie books

I am currently owned by 2 newfies Hawk who will be 3 next month, he is my XXXL 185 pounder. And our 15 month old nutter Garion (his dad is a really nutty landseer). Both are blacks and half brothers. They are both great swimmers. I would love to add another puppy by the end of the year.

BTW for all you newbies a little health warning newfies are like a well know potato chip 'once you pop you cant stop' they are addictive

I'm usually known as Greg (more or less, kinda sorta, "hey you" works as well). Colleen & I have been married 15 years & have 3 kids (3 boys, one of which happens to be female) 12, 8, 6. We live on 5 acres near Cincinnati on the right side of the river. According to the general consensus around here I'm a redneck who likes to blow things up
& has a strange fixation about trampolines
. Frankly I have no idea where they get it from
.

Anyway over the past 15 years we've had a parade of newfies come & unfortunately all to often go through our lives. Currently we've got one newf (Bear) hanging out here taking up floor space (well, two if you count Thor, but he is more of a long term guest who is welcome to stay as long as he likes) & one neurotic shepherd mix who likes to chase thunder storms around the backyard.

What was the question again  .

Hello and welcome to all the newbies!

My name is Kelli. I am 28 and I have been married to my husband Scott for almost 7 years. Scott was a software engineer/database administrator, but he recently purchased a small manufacturing company and is trying his luck with a new career as President and CEO. I am currently in law school and expect to graduate in May, 2005 and then work as a patent attorney.

Our family consists of 3 dogs and a cat. The two youngest dogs are newfs - one black female and one male landseer. This board will provide a wealth of information and both heartbreaking and hilarious stories. And you will become addicted. Both to newfs and to newf.net.

Hi Newbies!
I'm Tiff, and my husband is Chis, aka Feuervogel. We're 20-somethings who have been married for 2.5 years. We live in Minne-so-cold, in a Minneapolis suburb, but we're both originally from Michigan. We're both University of Michigan engineers (Go Blue!) and I it is my personal responsibility to give all of the Buckeyes on this board a hassle...

We are owned by a 1.5 year old Landseer named Carmen. She's our pride and joy. Carmen is a big ball of energy (and fur!) and she's smart as a whip - a good problem solver. I plan to begin agility with her soon, and continue in obedience. Although Carmen is young, I can't remember what my life was like before she joined our family! She adds so much richness to our lives. I'm "working" on convincing Chris that we need another Newf!
Welcome to NN. This is an awesome place to learn, learn, learn from some experienced, knowledgeable, and big-hearted people!
