Hi everyone!
I feel a bit shy about introducing myself. I've never joined any sort of forum before, and I'm sure you've heard how reserved us English are!! But I love my newfies so much, and this seems such a great friendly place to be, I'm getting brave and posting this message.
My name's Ellie and I live in Devon, England with Amy and Ben. I adopted Amy 2 years ago. She was a trained water rescue dog who had actually saved a little girl's life in Cornwall. Sadly she then got into a tangle with an outboard and then wasn't able to work any more. So her owner got bored and put her in a shed. When I got her she was in a dreadful state, she'd quite literally turned her face to the wall and given up on life. I understand this now, as I realise just how loving these dogs are. Anyway, she's fine now and really enjoying life, though she can't walk too far due to her injuries, she bustles round the shops with me and enjoys being fussed by all her fans!
Then ... is one Newfie enough? "No!" I hear you all cry ... I acquired "little" Ben back in July. He's great. Amy thinks she's his Mum and when he was smaller was often seen to flatten him with the Newfie paw.
But not any more. He's 6 1/2 months now, and has reached her size, with a lot of growing left to do. Hope you like the attached photos, they were taken about 4 months apart. In the first Amy is very serene, but in the second she seems to be thinking, "How much bigger is this little guy going to get? Will there be room in this car for the two of us?"
To which the answer is, "Yes of course," - they're always to be found snuggling up together. Hope I haven't rambled on too long.
Ellie.
