HI!! I'm Jill, I'm 23, and my boyfriend Jaimie and I live in MN. We have one Newf, Sophie who turned a year old in February. We also have Hailey, a 4ish month old Pit mix, she was found as a stray and we've had her for about a month now. Sophie and Hailey were immediate best buddies. OH, can't forget our Guinea Pig, Midnight...he's an old grumpy man, loves Jaimie, bites me...LOL!

I'm currently going to dog grooming school and I'm anticipating I'll be done in August. Previously, I managed a locally owned pet supply store.

NN is an awesome place! I've received wonderful advice and support here, and not just about Newfs! Jump on in!!

Hi all new members. I'm Amy, A.K.A. Bo'smom. My husband Dave and I are 40 somethings who've been married for 27 years. We have 1 daughter named Kristin who is 20 and has recently launched out on her own. I guess that makes us empty nesters. :D

Beside the 2 of us our place is home to a Landseer Newf named Bo (8 mos) a black kitty who adopted US several years ago (Muffin) and a ferret named Nuriko. We also had a ferret named Olivia, but sadly, she recently went on to the Bridge. I also have a 20yr old Quarter Horse named Agent. His place is 10 min. down the road.

This is a wonderful & caring group of people. I hope y'all will feel comfortable jumping right in & joining us!

Okay, its ALL ANNIE'S fault I'm here! :D She kept talking about this forum and how much fun she was having meeting so many people, so I thought I would just lurk and find out. Well, since I can't keep my mouth shut for long, or my fingers from typing, I've been enjoying the interaction here, and I'm sure you will too!

Currently, I have three Newfs. Lu is the oldest at seven and she is my water rescue extraordinare. Coast is my three year old boy who has successfully learned many things that he thought was impossible. Then there is River, my nine month old girl who is just learning that she really can't help the earth turn faster by running in circles. My first Newfoundland, Ivory was the one who got me started in all of this. I only took her to obedience school because I knew she was going to be a big girl and I wanted her to have manners....well, one thing led to another, and she excelled at obedience, so I went along for the ride.

I make my living as a Sr. Mechanical Designer but Newfoundland dogs and their working abilities encompass all my time away from the office. We work, Obedience, Water, Draft, and are dabling in Conformation. We also have a Sacco Cart and I just won the Dog Sled at this years National, so after the water and draft gear are put away this year, I'm hoping for LOTS of SNOW in southern Ohio!
:D
:D Otherwise we may have to go on the road and visit people we know in the North!
:D

Hi and Welcome! NewfDad (Art) and I have been married for 17 years. We have 1 non-fuzzy child - our son Ian who's 14. Our fuzzy children are Kimber and Moose. Kimber is 7 and is an Irish Spot (not quite a Landseer or a black) and has been with us since she was a puppy. We think Moose is a Newfy/Lab mix that came to live with us in December of '04. The shelter thought he was 10 years old but our vet is not so sure.

In addition we always have a menagerie going. Right now it consists of 3 fish tanks, a homicidal cockatoo, a gerbil, and an anole. God bless our pet sitter! :D

Kimber and I get out usually once a week to a local nursing home and have a great time. I highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking about trying it.

Newfnet has been wonderful for us. It's given us many friends and a great place to turn for ideas and advice.

Sharon

12/9/4 Edited for birthdays and to add Moose!

Hi and a big welcome to Newf Net!!
My name is Renee and my husbands name is Ted. We have a 16 year old son, a 1 year old black Newfie named Baxter and we are about to pick up a new Saint Puppy named Wilbur.
I am a nurse, however, I am now working in the health insurance business. I live in Selkirk, NY near Albany.
I just wanted to let you all know that Baxter had a few problems as a young pup and I would not have got through the hard times without the kind and caring people on this forum. I thank my lucky stars for all of you everyday.

Hi All,
New2Newfs this is such a great idea for all of us NNer's to get to know each other a littlie more. Thank you for not only suggesting it but for taking the first step.

I am Hawk Henries. I lve in Maine ( on the coast near Bar Harbor). My wife and I have been together for 22 year's. We have two daughter's 15-17yrs. They are Sierra and Sequan'. They have enabled us to look at how to BE on this Earth. Their presence is a constant reminder of our responsibility's to ourselves each other and Creation. They trully are a Blessing!!!

We live in a home that was built by a man from Holland. His dream was to have people from different religous, spiritual, and philosophical perspectives gather and discuss ways of Being. He is back in Holland and our family has continued his work.
I am a builder of flute's(wooden)and also play them. I also spend considerable time in various settings;pre-school's to university, churches confrence's running my mouth.
I found NN earlier this year. Our Auggie Bear crossed over after 14 Loving year's. I was spending too much time on line looking for pups that needed a home. When I found NN it was like being adopted. I felt right at home here :D
We do not have a Newf. My wife think's they drool too much...I am sure that the drooling thing is just a rumor ;)
We do have a BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG!!! He is the Love of our family. We also have The Feline Matriarch, Luna and Mr anxiety ,Sky and our newest feline addition who adopted us last year in Louisiana is Loki,Cypress, Mr.Buddy( we all call him different names and he responds to all)
We also have fish and spider's and ant's thought only the fish are pet's. Our house is full of plant's(my domain) and we have very nice gardens(wifes domain).
It would be easy to keep going and bore all of you to tear's so I will only offer an encouragement for new(f) folks to jump on in and share/recieve some of this knowledge and compassion that abound's here at NN.
For you older NNer's thank you for Being here.
I wish All of You Peace
Hawk

Hi, there.

I joined a while ago and realized I've never introed myself.

My name is Ang, and I am from SK.

I have two dogs. Shania, my 4 yr old rescue Shih TzuX?. Lucky, my 8 yr old Border CollieX GSDX Australian Cattle Dog.

I am very passionate about the breeding of dogs, and hate to see when its not done properly, even tho I don't breed myself.

Hopefully, my next dog will be the one to break into competition with. Obedience, Agility, Conformation, Schutzhund. But, I am a sucker for the sad story.

I am a member of 4 other dog-related forums, so most of the time when I am here I just lurk.

Well, I'm one of those newfbies of which you speak! This is the ... 6th Newf-related board/forum/list for me to lurk on so some of you may already know a little about me. Hopefully there's something new to learn. There must be, I just did! I spend too much time on the computer. ;)

Anyhow, we're currently Newfless, BUT I hope to change that this summer! Kale (the-vegetable-that-nobody-eats), our 9 month old kittencat, currently rules the roost. Kale @ Costco *We* are Keith and Saara happily "living in sin" on the shores of the Skagit River in Western Washington. Us in BC He's a process engineer (composites) and I am self-employed (civil engineering drafting). We're in our late-30's ... okay, *I'm* in my late-30's and *he's* in his mid-30's.

If you go to http://www.sedge.net/pod you can see some pictures of our new-to-us dome home. Also in there are some pictures of my dear Annie who we lost to bone cancer last Thanksgiving. :( She was a RottweilerNewfX and is now resting peacefully just a few hundred yards from me. As soon as I can track one down, she'll be getting a native Pacific Dogwood planted on her grave.

As you can also see, I haven't updated that site since the floods and Annie's passing. It's at the top of my list of things to do when it rains next.

When we're not trying to finish our remodel, I'm usually gardening (organic food & native plants) and Keith's out tinkering with one of his cars. Together we like to hike and explore the back roads of Washington. We also love to go car and sailboat camping. We have the perfect boat: 1976 San Juan 26, sturdy sailor, sleeps 4, swing keel, and most importantly, owned by his parents. :D

I've barely had a chance to browse the archives, but I've already yapped extensively with an NN'er!
to Kathy! Hoepfully we'll be meeting up at a dog show next month. She's graciously allowing us to get a Newf fix with her Baker. I just love everyones' avatars here, they make me smile each time.

When we get our Newf *crossing fingers*, first and foremost, she'll be a companion. At this point we don't intend to show, but I plan on teaching her the basic Newfy skills. Later I would like to explore therapy and SAR work. Meanwhile I'm reading Judi Adler's Puppy Book and practicing my grooming skills on Keith. :D

Now after all that long-windedness, I've got to toddle off to
. It's been 10 years since I did the last set of 3am potty breaks and I'm getting tired just thinking about it.

OK ... looks like I better get on this bandwagon! :D Let's start with the important stuff and our case that would be Hudson ... that cutie you see to the left there. He's 7 months old now, which amazes me because I swear we've had him forever. Our lives without him is a distant memory. We waited a LONG time until the circumstances were right (both of us in the country, a house with a yard, etc.) to get our Newf so by the time we finally did get him (December 16, 2003) we were about ready to burst and the wonderful people here helped me deal with that and be prepared for everything that was coming.

Hudson shares his house with Desdemona, our 2 or 3-year-old rescued tabby who is thoroughly disgusted by her canine companion and goes to her kitty bed at night dreaming that he will just go away. He also is kind enough to share it with me, Erin, and my husband Rich.

When we're not watching our pup grow or vacuuming up his hair, we're sailing. A shared love of the water is part of what brought us together and I suspect it played no small part in us getting a big ol' water dog. We live out our passion mostly by racing sailboats but insist that soon we will do some cruising to relive those incredible summers we both spent as children cruising the Great Lakes with our families. We also both work in the sailing industry, so we couldn't get away from it even if we tried.

I've found Newf Net to be an incredible source of information, not to mention friendship. I recently had the chance to meet some NN'ers at Nationals and it was great. I envy all of those who are going to the get together (we'll be off racing sailboats...)

Hi to all

Well...I'm Jennifer. I don't post much but I'm always on here gleaning tons of useful information!

As for humans...my husband Scott and I are in our mid-30s and have been married for almost 2.5 years. I work for Target Corporation and Scott works for US Bank (both downtown Minneapolis). We are both in IT (Information Technology). I have 2 sons from a previous marriage - Jake is almost 14 and Sully is 8. We also are expecting a baby in 2 months.

Guinness is currently our only newf but that will change some day. I will have 2! I will! I will! I will! Sorry - got sidetracked :D Guinness will be 2 in July and is so much fun. I love her to death - she has so much personality and soul. Jack is our golden and he just turned 1 in March. He's Mr. Destructo when he's bored but he is the oldest soul I've ever met. They fight like typical brothers and sisters will...but I'm pretty sure they'd be lost without each other now which is what we were hoping for.

As I said, I don't post much but would definitely feel lost without NN!

Hi there !! I am delighted to introduce our family to all of yours and also delighted to know all of you a bit better. My name is Nancy and my husband, Billy, and I have been together for 8 years, married for 7. We have an absolutely beautiful 6 y/o little girl named Casey who is the center of our universe. We have two Newfies following a close second with her. Bear is 2.5 years old and Bumper is 1.5 years old, both just purely joy to our family. We live in a house in a place called Apopka, FL, just about 10 miles outside of Orlando. We built our home about five years ago and have been steadily changing and revisiting things to make them just perfect for our growing family !! Currently we are retiling the floors for the four-footed babies !! Then, of course, after all the work is done and things are just the way we want them we will probably sell our home and try to move a bit further out in the country as things have grown up fast around us in the past five years !!! It has been my pleasure and honor to "know" all of you and share ideas and opinions and glean information and, yes, even sometimes be on opposite sides of the fence. I love and respect each and every one of you and your love for each other and this most perfect breed of animal !!

So, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it (oh yeah, we're big country music fans around here too !!)

I haven't been able to find a water working group here, however we have the beautiful Bavarian Alps are right out our front door for awesome walks and a huge river for swimming. My daughter, my Newfs and skiing are my passions. I am so happy to have found NN. Some of you may know Bauer is having some health

I found NN by chance when I was surfing the net doing research on Newfs. Glad I did. What a place! I share my life with Aly and Alex, my 10 and 8 year old girl and boy. They crack me up and drive me nuts and I wouldn't trade them for the world. There is also the signif other, Charlie, 6 yrs. He is an operating engineer with an oil refinery, and quite the musician. Guitar and keyboards. Oh and a computer techy. Me, well I got myself all back in college and all (left to travel the world and did, had my babies and hello life. Backwards as hell, but I enjoyed the ride). Computer Science and Mechanicl engineering with a minor in math are my declared majors. We'll see. I like math and physics, but I much prefer writing, listening to music, reading, learning the piano, cooking, and hanging with my kids and new pup. There is Danny kitty also. Who is not a kitty anymore but a nearly five year old cat. Boy do we love her. Everyone we know calls her the cool cat. And she is. We also have two turtle doves, two pythons and one tarantula. And there is Baby the Rott, lil' Chuck's doggie. And last but most definately not least is Baxter.
Baxter, Baxter. My first Newf. An absolutely wonderful dog whom I adore. He is the cat's pajamas! And on his way to a baseball game. I hope it doesn't rain!

My husband Butch and I have been married 26 years. We have a grown daughter and lots and lots of critters. Our 5 newfs are Clancy (7), Willow (6), Stuart (3), Louis (1 1/2), and Lenoria (8 mo). One Pekingese, Elvis and one lab, Ruck. A rabbit, laying hens, turkey, and Alpacas. We love to garden and grow flowers. Our Newfs are with us 24/7 and are the love of our lives. We love Alaska, but hate that we are soo remote. We don't have any where to do any water training. We must travel great distances for the few shows we have and classes we need for the pups. We try to get outside with some of the kids at least once a year. Newfoundlands are the most wonderful dogs alive....

Hi all,
Well this was a good idea - forcing all of us lurkers to come out :eek:I live on Long Island with my husband of nearly 36yrs. We have 3 children, 2 girls and a boy and 3 adorable grandchildren. Our furkids are Eagle (lab/golden)9yrs.old and Tinky (Schnoodle) 11yrs.old and our Newf girl Nora 16 mos. old who I have waited so very long for -- going through a rough time now having had TPO surgery and cruciate repair as well. For the past 11 yrs. we have raised puppies for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and for the Guide Dog Foundation.
I haven't posted before but have laughed and cried with all of you and am so grateful for all the wisdom and generous spirit given so freely by everyone on this board. Thank you all.
