Have you contacted SCNC about her? They're the group who rescued our Kilrain who was born blind. Contact IvoryUDX on here. I'd be really curious to see if this pup came from the same place as Kilrain.

Thanks for following up. It will be interesting to compare notes. I know SCNC got Kilrain from a puppy mill in Indiana. I certainly hope it's a fluke and there isn't a mill repeatedly doing something wrong to crank out blind puppies. It's just your girl's eyes look a lot like the one of Kilrain's that appears to be scarred from a severe infection before his eyes opened (his other one has shattered structure and never developed properly. The scarred eye is too scarred to tell what's up with its structure).

Hi Kim, I just sent you a PM.

We can help.

Just wanted to add that these pups don't know any different and we don't tell them either. As long as the pressures are monitored in their eyes and the socket is large enough, they do really well.

If it is Rock Rescue that has her, she should be safe. They are the rescue that took in Leo from the Humane Society and had all the work done on him. He came in with two broken legs. They splinted one and pinned the other. He then went to the rescue in Yorkville IL, Eye on the Sparrow. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get this little girl if SCNC doesn't.

At first my reaction was 'poor lil pumpkin' but having lived with a deaf and blind dog in my teens, I agree, given placement with the right family and medical vigilence, her life will be just as full and bright as any fully sighted puppy. She's adorable and different...but then again, I like different!

Eye on the Sparrow is who contacted me about this girl. I have been communicating with them about a HW+ girl they have who may be pregnant. Do you know much about this rescue? Kim

I hope this little girl gets the best home ever.

We have a blind dog (from birth) and they really don't know they're blind. They do great and can live long, happy, fun filled lives.

Tricia, I agree completely. She won't know the difference if she has the right home. Just look at OldeHome and Denver!

If this little girl turns out to be anything like Kilrain you won't be saying Poor Little Girl. If you look at PABusinessWoman's avatar closely the dog in the background is Kilrain at full speed chasing Cimmorene by the sound of her tags. When we are in the dog park or in public very few folks realize Kilrain is blind (until they stand there really quiet and he runs in to their kneecaps :) ) He has all the fun and all the joy of any fully sighted dog.

South Central Newfoundland Rescue now has this girl. She is about 2-3 years of age, totally blind, and a real sweetheart that is very lucky. She was dropped off at a shelter by someone saying she was a stray who came into their yard.

Fortunately a very caring woman who has done rescue for many years talked the shelter into keeping her alive and giving her a chance to find help for her. Two Vets later, two different Rescues, and many miscommunicated emails, Kim (NN Tula) was contacted. Thank You Kim for contacting us. She is safe and we are working to have her in for surgery Monday morning. :)
