At 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 26, I got the call from the nursing home that my Dad had passed away. We knew it was coming so my sister and I spent hours with him before hand, talking to him and letting him know he wasn't alone, even though he was on strong pain meds and sedated and at that point was unresponsive. My daughter made the long trek from Mississauga to Cornwall on the 25th to be with him. The days since his passing have been a blur of phone calls, meetings and e-mails and that's just for starters. We are planning a memorial service for him in the chapel at the nursing home where he's been for the last 3 1/2 years. I am so very grateful to the staff there. They took such good care of him. We will all miss him so very much, but take comfort in the knowledge that he is now in a better place.
