Murphy has a lump (NN)

Yesterday I was petting my Murph and I felt a small lump on his side just on top of his ribcage. It wasn't there last Wednesday because I groomed him and I felt him all over (my nursing assessment skills kick in). He is otherwise acting completely normal. I am taking him in tomorrow morning to have it checked. I'm trying not to panic but with my recent streak of luck with my boys, naturally I am very worried. Please say a prayer for my Golden boy that it is nothing major. Thank you.

Of course, prayers from here, Murphy is always my favourite Golden :)
Hopefully it's just a fatty lump which isn't serious.

Jess...our chocolate Labs both developed fatty lumps at 5+ years old. Hoping this is all Murphy has...it is common in Labs and Goldens.

Thank you everyone. I'm hoping it's just a fatty lump too. He will be five in April. It's right on the right side of his body on his rib cage, about the size of a quarter, and is moveable. But it's definitely on his ribs and not in the skin.

Murphy  has got all our prayers and positive thoughts from across the miles...here is hoping he has just got one of those little lumps that is really nothing. But I know how much you will worry until the visit :hugs: :hugs: Ronnie

We will definitely say a prayer for your Murphy. Glad to hear he is feeling/acting normal, he probably is going to be just fine. We worry about our fur-babies so much....

I had a golden growing up and by the time she was five she had a few fatty deposits. When she finally laid down for the last time at about 13 (for unrelated reasons) they were all over her chest and sides of varying sizes and maneuverability. We had biopsies of a few of them and all were just benign fat. Good luck and hope Murphy just has what all these other good goldens seem to have.
