Thought I would post a quick update on Roger....He's been on Microlactin for 2 weeks. I ended up not doing the loading dose because I was concerned about his stool. He's been getting 1000mg 2x a day. Like I said earlier, within a few day's he was going up the deck steps without any hesitation. I've also noticed him getting up a lot more. I've also noticed him more spunky and voicing his opinion a lot more
A few more things I noticed is his thigh muscles seem tighter. They have not been good since his knee issue's. This means he is using his hind legs more, where he usually just dragged them a lot. He walks with his head held higher which in turn is throwing his weight to the rear and working the rear muscles.
The two biggest shockers are that he is coming outside more in the heat. Roger never wanted out during these discusting day's of summer. He walks with us almost every day or wants his seperate walk. The other shocker is when he wanted his seperate walk this morning, when I had no time left, I leashed him and took him without putting his boots on his rear paws. To my surprise, he wasn't dragging his feet at all. I kept him walking slow and talking to him to keep his attention. We walk in the woods but have to walk on some concrete to get there. I did not hear his nails drag once!!!
I hope this is a good sign and I will keep seeing improvement. Roger is only 6 1/2 and I hope there will be no negative effects of the Microlactin for long term use.
His stool is still a little soft at times, but I will not worry unless he is dropping weight. His weight will be checked friday when he has blood drawn to see how his thyroid is doing on the meds.
