Catie

A bright light in our lives has gone dark, our sweet Catie is gone. After four months of watching her get progressively weaker we made the choice to send her to the bridge, our grief is greater then either of us expected. I don't believe she would have left us as long as there was one beat left in her heart so we had to make the decision for her. Ruby can still smell Catie and looks for her every morning not realizing her cremated remains are here with us. Catie was on this earth for 5 years 10 months and 17 days and lives on in our hearts, pictures and videos.

I am very sad to hear such terrible news. As others have indicated, she will live on in your hearts forever. My deepest condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It is doubly hard when they go so young. Catie certainly was loved and that makes the difference for both of you.

Rubys continued looking, and the recognition..of how shattering the time-of-leaving..actually is to us all..is so true..so poignant. From baby gates, to treks and hikes..and exploring your world together..the sudden quieter moments..hold us..in an 'eddy of time'. It will take..leaning upon her memorys..the good times..and then even further back..to how she changed your lives, your hearts..with her arrival. Catie..as has Ruby..has taught you..more about how to love..than any of us..ever gets..out of books. When your family can..it is time to reach out to another ..and say "we are ready now..we have love to share"..and a pair of eyes..will focus upon you, and that timid furchild..will melt..into your hearts anew. with love, ina n HB

Thanks all, back in march when we first found out she had cancer and we were going to lose her I had my wife start a search for a new companion for Ruby. No other dog will be able to replace her but one Newfie just isn't enough and we found a male Lanseer puppy for sale. MortDooleys Little Lester arrived in time to know Catie even if she didn't seem to approve of him. One thing I learned was how special Catie was,she had a personality I have never seen in a dog before or since. She acted more like a spoiled child then a dog and would sit between me and my wife if we got too close.

I know how your heart must be breaking right now. It is terrible to lose a dog in any circumstance, but it must be worse to see them sick and be helpless to help them.

You made a hard decision and because of your love for Catie I am sure it was the right one. A very selfless decision.

Try to find comfort in your other dogs. I have come to realize they have an endless supply of love and affection. Especially when you are hurting.
