Thank you so much everyone!!! I just saw this post now, so sorry for the late relpy. I feel so welcome! i am so excited to be here!!! I am Heather and my husband is Craig and we are searching for our first Newfie. We have 3 sweet kids and we are all so excited. I have been researching for months and I am so happy to have found you guys on Newf Net as I would love to get some advice from you all. I am currently searching for the perfect, reputable breeder for us. i must PM some of you guys! Thanks again, Heather.

We are in Southern California but we are prepared to look countrywide to find the perfect sweet Newfie for our family. We have not had a Newfie before but both my husband Craig and I have cared for Mastiffs (Dogue de Bordeauxs and Italian Mastiffs) so we are used to drool!!! :lol: We would love a Brown Newfie so that narrows things down a little. I have been looking on Newfoundland Club websites and through AKC. I have found some breeders names who look reputable and great through their websites etc but I really want to check everything out properly to make sure we do this the right way. Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome!!! :sunflower:

Welcome! Looking for a brown pup does narrow your search possibilities. There are good breeders in your area but they do not breed brown. What pup is in your avatar if you are looking for your first newf?

Lynn - it's just a pic I found on The Daily Puppy. They have a facebook page too. She is Emma the Newfoundland. I would love to have a pup like her! My avatar felt very empty as we don't have our pup yet.

Welcome and good luck on your search. Be careful about using pictures of dogs from websites that aren't yours. That's technically stealing unless you have permission from Emma's owners to use her photo as your own.

My sincere apologies if my avatar offended anyone. I was not aware that using a photo from The Daily Puppy required a link back to the owners - as the Daily Puppy do have a share, facebook,email, twitter function under each picture to share the puppy pictures online and I assumed the owners must agree to share the pictures of their puppies. I would never want to mislead anyone or steal anything. The Daily Puppy facebook page is adorable! If Emma is Charlie's I would love to chat with him as she is my dream dog.
I have changed my avatar - and as you can see - that's me and my little boy Finn. As I helped make him, I thought it would be ok to put his pic on here until we have found our Newf. :lol:
