So sorry to hear about the loss of the one boy. I sure hope this new one continues to improve. It breaks the heart to hear of our sweet breed being neglected to the point this boy was. Prayers coming from here.

I had a newf rescue who had been starved. Fur and bones as you say. I adopted her when she was around this boy's age. It took her a good year to come around physically and emotionally. I thought she was mentally challenged, she was so withdrawn.

But she lived eight more glorious years, blossoming into the best dog I've ever had. No lingering health issues.

She had severe whip (and the runs of course) and skin condition. The vet said she would not have lived more than a week if I hadn't gotten her when I did. I could feel *around* her spine. Like ... almost the entire diameter. Sigh.

I am so, so sorry about the one that didn't make it. I do understand about not being critical in order to help the Newfs involved with rescue, but these stories and the suffering involved really breaks my heart.

I am glad to hear that this boy is doing much better.

Sorry to hear that the other boy didn't make it.

I bet this boy will have a bright future now that he is getting the care he deserves. Thanks for the update.

Our prayers are with you, your rescues, and the folks that work with you. You all do so well with such tough situations. We are so blessed with the results of your work. I wake up and go to sleep each day with a sweet brown furry next to one side of my bed and a sweet grey furry on the other. Thank you all.

Jessie our gsd was a walking skeleton when we found and rescued her. After her pregnancy issues and emergency hysterectomy it took us nearly a year to get her to normal health and starting to trust though she is and always has been my shadow.

Sometimes the best medicine is just a place where they can lick their wounds, relax and start the healing process.

I truly hope you have good karma and luck with your rescues and hopefully they will all pull through and get the homes they deserve.

Hi Susan,
Dozer should be going to his forever home in the next few weeks, I have room to squeeze in another foster before he leaves. I can also help transport Newfs to where ever they need to be moved to. Let me know what I can do to help.

So sorry for trhe one that did not make it, SO SAD! Glad to see this one is responding and is still so sweet. I know he'll make somone a great Newf! I understand about not talking about who, what, etc., knowing that Dog will give them their "just deserts" sooner or later.

Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way. Bless you for helping so many animals in need. Sorry for the loss of your long term rescue.

Solly wasn't quite as bad as this one, but he was similar in many of his issues. He was severely neglected. He too was picked up in OH.. almost IN. With as close as the timing is, I wonder if there is a correlation at all.... if they may be from the same entity. The vet also figures Solly at 3-4 years.

As bad of shape as he was in, it about made me cry. I can only imagine what it is like with this poor boy. :hugs:

Oh my heart is so heavy. I keep seeing all the newfies that need a home. Ya know we dont rescue and adopt to change the world.....we do it so the world dont change us. Hugs to all the ones who need homes.......thank you to everyone who helps along the way.

Been watching for news and am relieved there are no posts of him going downhill. We are so glad he is out and about the yard. Everything can be overcome it seems. Good deal!
