Oh Beth, I am so sorry. He was much too young. I'm sure Poseidon and Athena are together watching over you all.

Beth I was shocked and teary when I read your post......How unfair and how shocking. You must feel bereft on such a sudden loss and so unfair. You were so brave and gave Athena such a great life........Athena will have Poseidon, it is the only thing that could possibly lessen the pain just a little.
I am so very very sorry for you devastating loss.....godspeed Poseidon, another friend for all our Rainbow Angels :( :hugs: :hugs: Ronnie

I am so very sorry for your loss. :( It is never easy to lose these guys, but it is so harsh when they are taken so young. Run free, Poseidon.

Beth, I'm heartbroken for you and your family, my deepest condolences on Poseidon's sudden passing. You can be sure there was a need in the universe for a braveheart and your little maiden, Athena, to come forward and rescue another soul. Until you meet again, Godspeed Poseidon.

Thank you all so much for your kind words of sympathy. I hope it's ok to compare Poe to a child, as I feel what a mother would feel having a young child taken too soon. With Athena, I knew the day would come that her heart would give out, tho thought she'd make it to at least three. With Poe, I feel like I never got to say goodbye to him properly. The other dogs keep us going, but man do we miss that big boy! We had him cremated and his ashes will be in a wood carved box to match Athena's. I've made a nice memorial table for the two of them. I also had a clay footprint made of him to remember those big paws. :(

I am so sad to hear this. Athena must have needed her buddy. I believe they are running around together at the bridge. I am so, so, sorry.

Oh I'm just seeing this, I'm so sorry! He's gone much to soon. Yes, time is what helps replace the sadness with fond memories. RIP big boy.

This is simply heartbreaking. Two, gone so soon. I don't know how you are dealing with it.

PS, I still have a photo of your Athena looking up at her papa. Sweetest pic ever.

Yes, it is very heartbreaking. Poseidon was the Newf my husband wanted and waited for for a long time. Other than Athena, all of my dogs have always lived to old age health problems. This is the first to lose one in his prime like Poe. I can't even bring myself together to make a montage of him yet. I don't know what I'd do w/o Aurora right now.
