Newfy on the news- devocalization

I was surprised to see a story on the news here in Ohio centering around a devocalized newfy from Connecticut. He seems like a sweet boy, here is the video of the newscast:

PHEW! Some lame excuse for a breeder if you ask me. If your husband doesn't like the sound the dog makes, DON'T GET THE DOG, let alone be a breeder!

Personally, I don't like the bay that Beagles and some other hound type dogs make. That's why I won't own one in the first place. Devocalisation is just insane.

I didn't watch the video but I think this is the height of disgusting ! Dogs need a
voice psycologically at the very least......There is NO situatioln that warrents this proceedure...........!! grrrrrrrr........

Disgusting!! I won't watch it either. I can tell my dogs voices one from the other, by their pitch and tone!! I wouldn't want to change that for the world!

Anyone who does that has absolutely no business owning a dog. Period. That's like getting a tree and then pruning off all of it's leaves every spring because you don't like the color green. Ridiculous.

AHHHHH I totally forgot to mention that his current owner adopted him after he was devocalized and is completely against it.

That is disgusting! :ah: On some dogs to crop the tail or ears is OK, not that I would do it, but to take away your babies way of talking? Maybe their owners voice gets on their nerves. I suggest the owner's get devocalized! Not to mention these people should not procreate so get them spayed and neutered as soon as possible.

I honestly question what kind of a world we have come to live in? I think the guy who wanted this done and anyone who wants something like this done, needs to have it done to themselves... so people like me don't have to hear them....period!

here in England tail docking is banned , not sure on the ear cropping unless they are going to be usd for hunting, etc.

Personally I'd rather leave them all with tails, etc.

His adopted owner is great but some of those poor dogs, why not train the barking rather than this, sounds like some of their owners didnt want to try. I know Beau can be a pain with his barking, Jessie when she gets stressed whines but that doesn't stop me working on their issues constantly and this is definetly not something I would ever hav done
