Naughty, bad Montana!!

Montana has always taken bread or saltine cracker packages (if left out) and carries them to me (usually in the middle of the night) for me to open. He has never ripped them open himself and barely breaks a cracker or squooshes the bread while carrying it........... but this time temptation was too much.

I picked up a boston creme donut last night for Emma as a breakfast treat -- left it on the counter in a far corner in the bag. well, he did carry the bag upstairs to me sometime in the wee hours of the night -- but he ate the darn thing this time.

so - he had some chocolate and I called the vet - they told me not to worry but to watch him. He is certainly his same ol' goof-ball self so thankfully it was only the one donut.

Emma was not happy and wants Montana gone. typical 5 yr old -- someone owes her a donut :)

LOL.. this week there must be something in the air.

Normally "good" Newfs that are angels seem to be testing the waters this week. Sadie has pulled a few. She is normally excellent. Perhaps I am a little spoiled. :) Hers was an excursion in the trash. I think it was the shock more than anything... then I had to kinda laugh a little bit. (I knew there was nothing really in there that could have hurt her.) Just like the kids. It was partially mom's fault since I left a bag of trash open. However, she knows better.

Glad to hear he is OK. I think Emma should get an extra donut from Montana as a "thanks for sharing." You have to give him credit... he does have good taste.:D

Oh, yes, do you remember about Cooper and the donuts? My dining room table will never be the same. ;)

From what I understand, a Newf would have to ingest well over a pound of chocolate for it to be toxic, so I think you can rest easy on one donut...

The crackers in the middle of the night is a funny, funny thing!

You seem to have forgotten NN Nana's rules.. No such thing as a naughty Newf. It is your fault for leaving the donut out..:groovy::goofy:

poor montana may never eat another donut again... he is having an identity crisis with everyone calling him a girl. lol

he really doesn't mind... especially since Yogi is the one in the house with his 'donuts' still attached, Tana tends to explore the female side of his nature. :)

But Tana was just being considerate. He didn't want to wake you to ask if it was okay to eat the donut. Since you didn't say "no" he assumed it was okey-dokey! :)

But Mommy!!!!..................The bag wasn't marked with anyone's name, and under Newfy Rule #674.5 Paragraph 4,b,ii,(c), any donut left on a counter, unattended, and with the bag unmarked is fair game for a Newfie on a Snacky Quest.

And since I needed a snacky really bad, the rule applied.

So with all due resepect to Emma, rules are rules, and she's outta luck.

Mom, it was Boston Creme and no one, especially a Newf should be asked to leave an unattended Boston Creme donut untouched. It would have been stale by morning.
