Hi -
I just wanted to say that I have a dog that has Atypical Addison's disease... It is a chronic and tough, but VERY manageable disease once they get the meds right... and there is only ONE test for it - the ACTH test - and it is pass/fail - cut/dry... If Moose has had this test already - it will give a definitive answer and NO other test is needed - and it should not be uncomfortable for the dog at all...
Not sure what they are referring to for that... It is just a blood draw, injection and another blood draw spaced a few hours apart.
My girl Sadie has been living with Addison's for over four years - she's now over 10 years old and I would be happy to help in any way possible. It is sadly one of those very often misdiagnosed and even more often mistreated diseases ...
Hopefully if they are even "considering" it to be a possibility still that they are beginning steroid treatment in some way - dexamethasone is one that will not interfere with the results of the ACTH test - nor cause tummy upsets... and will give Moose immediate relief.... Addison's Disease is the death of the adrenal glands and they do suffer without the hormones the adrenal gland produces in the body - they must be replaced in some way.
I'm sorry if this is too much info ...
Hugs .... Karen
