London Broil

Thinking I was going to have a nice dinner tonight, I took out my London Broil to thaw for a nice grill night, put it in the sink to thaw, left to go get the kids from school....Well, my bad . Riki's schnaz got the best of her and how can you resist a London Broil just sitting there all by itself? the insanity of it. it was calling her...I came home to the styrophome under plate scattered all over the floor and a fat sleepy newf taking a nap after a good meal :banghead:
DOH!

I've learned the hard way too...Some you just can't trust w/food:!rolling:
I've now have to thaw my meat on top of the kitchen cabinets. It's the only place Merlin can't get to:!rolling:

Molly did that with two tenderloin steaks (ate saran wrap and all...threw up saran wrap later), and then with SIX pork chops (boneless, thank heaven).

We thaw in a container on top of the fridge...WAY in the back now.

I think I can out do that story. Last Easter I walked back into the house to see my $80.00 honey baked ham missing from the plate I put it on to cool. That thing had just come out of the oven and was hot. I looked down and Murphy had it down to the bone in about 6 or 7 minutes. I couldn't have been gone that long. I went outside to yell -- get out of the pool, dinner is ready. Those newfs seize their opportunities and work fast!!

These are all tales my Berner would have done. That boy was totally food obsessed during his decade here with us. My almost 3-yr old Newf can take it or leave it. He would "never" deign to jump up on a cabinet or strain himself in any way for any steak or food whatever. Whatever.

I get such a kick out of him. He's just like my Newf of 30 years ago. VERY laid back and takes life as it comes to him. He is a sweet heart that I'm learning to pattern myself after....

My Caera seems to have a fondness for anything BREAD!! It didn't take toooooooo long (although longer than it should have) for me to figure out that if she wanted it and it wasn't in a safe place, she was gonna get it. So now anything needing to be thawed out gets put in a safe place - microwave, oven or overnight in the fridge. None of the suggested "training" methods to stop this particular behaviour even remotely worked. Unfortunately for poor Misha, we figured that one out before she came home with us so has never had the opportunity although I've no doubt she would take advantage if the opportunity presented itself.

We had just cooked a pizza and I put it back in the oven to stay warm while we ate round one; left the oven door open a couple inches...went back for a second piece and the empty pizza tray was in Charlies crate. These days when it is pizza night, Charlie (and the rest of them) are crated.

Now let's think about this a minute. Here was a poor Newfie whom obviously was lured by the taunts of the L.B. I mean after all, how could an innocent Newfie resist the tempting callings of the L.B. that was going out of it's way to lure Riki by overwhelming it's olifactory senses, and the whispering's.........come and eat me!!!!.....come and EAT ME!!!............EAT ME!!!!!!, I'M DELICIOUS!!!!!!...........EAT ME!!!!!!!..........I want you to..............EAT ME!!!!!........I'm so tasty!!!!.......I want to feel your Flews around my tenderloin!!!!........Yum Yum!!!!!!!.....You must taste me................MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUMMY!!! Lip Smacking Good I am...................

AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!ICNA"TSTANDITANYMORE..........SNAP>>SNAP>>GOBBLE>>GOBBLE!!!AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(BURP!)

Now how could a poor innocent well behaved Newfoundland resist such pressure?:!rolling::!rolling::!rolling::kiss:
