Just Chill

Figured I'd post an update on my bratty dog:)

Brody is still a PITA but I'm finding different ways to work with him. He lives to ride in the car so when he starts bugging me before his scheduled car ride, I put him in the car and have him wait. Guess what I found out? This is what he wanted all along. Not quite sure what we'll do when summer hits but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

I live a few minutes away from the beach so I've been taking Brody several times a week. For the most part, he can run free and swim when he wants to. I LOVE these walks. I found that I can just chill out and enjoy my dog.

I hear you, we take Toby to the lake and he ventures out, comes back smelling like swamp water but loves it.....nice to see the traits of the breed come out in them......beautiful. Wish it were warmer though , even though he doesn't mind the cold Lake Ontario water it's mighty cold for us....but we're willing to endure as it makes him sooooo happy......Cheers

Good for you guys!!

When my terror golden was an adolescent, I found that the ONLY thing that would really tire him was swimming. He swam year round, which my vet told me his coat was not designed for, and to limit him in the winter if he was not self limiting.

He loved the car ride, would swim and retrieve, then run for a few miles... after all that he was tolerable. :)

I am glad you and Brody found an activity that you both enjoy!!!

glad you found something that works. I cant wait to take Beau water training again, perhaps he will stop being a demon then.

Is Brody like Beau-no matter how much you walk and interact with him he never seems to tire out

My Tiki seems to be like your Brody, he wants to go go go; always wants to go fro a ride in the truck/car; he loves the beach & the water, its the puppy in him, he is just curious about everything so he goes with me to work alot, I just pack both of us lunch & go. He is quite good at work, behaves, he just wants to be with me instead of staying home with his brothers..Brody is just an outgoing type, he is a good looking newf also!!

Not a day goes by when I don't hear "Is he still a puppy?" My reply is "No, but I think he'll always act like one."

Gorgeous pictures! Brody is such a handsome guy. I am so glad you have found some respite because it is just really hard to cope with any high maintenance pet with all the other demands life makes. Then when the diva is the size of a small bear, well, that makes it more stressful for sure. Brody probably is extra-intelligent as well as superbly handsome. Again, beautiful pictures!!
