Idea for a new newfy category or forum

I happened to come up with an idea for a new category or topic..Not sure where to put this so I thought I would try here. I had posted a thread about pain relief on the maladies and disease forum and was happily surprised by the amount of newfies that were 10 yrs old> It would be fun to talk to owners about older dog issues that have newfies this old and learn tricks of trade for caring for an elderly newf. I suppose it could just be an on going thread too. Just a thought...

Someone had mentioned awhile ago about having a "Senior" section, could be called Caring for Golden Oldies or something. I think it would be great. My boy made it to 12!!! Miss you big guy!

Those seniors are so special!

I'll ask GAD, I have Gracie who is coming up 11 1/2 and very healthy. So far I don't really treat her any differently than the boys who are 7 and 6.

Well, I'm dealing with Echo who will be 12 on Tuesday, and I'd love a section on the golden oldies. When I had my first Newf it was hard to find any that made it past 10, but these days we have quite a few. Possibly because, as I have said before, my vet told me to consider putting her down when she was 9, but with help and advice from here and a lot of determination, she's still going. At least today.

Angela I'd think 8-10 would be considered senior. My Samantha will be 13 years and 3 months on Saturday 3/5.

MissM is shy of 11 so I love the idea! I've dealt with many seniors in all my years of rescue but never a senior newf so I am excited about the new Senior Section.

It's a good idea...and if we're doing a separate forum for older Newfs, what about one specifically for puppies?

We have a lot of puppies here, and finding information can be difficult for newbies because it gets all mixed in with the general information.

For the puppy section, it would be nice to have sub-sections...like the ones in the general forum....food, health issues, grooming, and maybe one for toys, exercise requirements. Or along those lines.

I think it is a GREAT idea, especially since I am into older Newfs. My Vinnie is 9 and poor Zeus had to be put down at 11.5.

Sounds like a great idea, my girls are seniors. Love hearing about the older ones. I have been fostering some older Newf's and just love them.
