So sorry to hear about the bad surg luck. No dog deserves to go through all that.

I have never heard "unicorn" in medical situation; however, I know that the phrase "when you heard hooves think horse not zebra" means to assume it is a common disease rather than an exotic one.

She is still in surgery. They are putting pins and a bar on the outside to stabilize the joint and give it a chance to heal, then these will be removed.

It is official now that her right cruciate and patella are blown so those will have to be dealt with once the left is healed and strong enough to handle.

Good thoughts for my girl appreciated - she went into surgery about 3 hours ago so I am anxious...

Thanks all. She is out if surgery and doing well. The surgeon said that the condition of her leg was complicated - both implants had torn free and needed to be replaced, her patellar tendon was frayed but not completely ruptured, needed repair, and he did some tightening and loose ing of tissue and added a bone screw somewhere (?) to help hold. He then added the pins and bar to stabilize on the outside.

He said that once she was out he did repeat the drawer and patella check on the right and confirmed that they are indeed in need of repair in the near future.

Thanks again for the well wishes. I am going to pick her up sometime tomorrow.

I'm sorry you have to go through all this. I'm sending you the very best of all my wishes. Your poor little family has gone through a lot, and I hope that it only gets better for you from here.
