I'm from the province itself here in Canada.

I own two Newfoundlands... an eight year ol' female and a 7 year ol rescued male.

Both have their own medical issues and I came across this forum in seach for information.

After reading through some of the threads here there appears to be no shortage of information and a lot of support.

I'm retired from the military now for 5 years and my dogs (I own a Great Pyr as well) have been there with me for the whole journey of recovering from injuries.

I'm looking forward to getting to know folks on here and gathering as much info about Newfs as possible. Also at a later date in time I'm going to start gathering info on a breeder.

Welcome Kinger, from the suburbs of Chicago! You'll find that there are actually several Newfoundlanders (people & dogs) on here! You're in good company :)

Great to hear that the Newfies are in Newfoundland. A few years ago a neighbour of ours sent their daughter back to Newfoundland to visit her grandparents. I kept joking for her to bring me back the giant dog. I think she was disappointed that the only Newf she saw was on a post card.

Another west coast welcome from me! I'm curious how real Newfoundlanders pronounce the word. Is it "Newfnland" or "NewFOUNDland"? Or maybe it doesn't matter... Tomato tomaaaato. Hope we get to see pictures sometime (the Pyr too!)
