Hi Everyone!

I Just joined a day or 2 ago and I'm excited to be here and be able to learn from you all.
I am in Calgary AB.
I am Newf-less for now :darn: I am hoping to Have a Big-little Black boy to cuddle by next year.
I have been doing my research and reading everything I can find about Newfies, I think I have watched just about every video on youtube as well. :D

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on the forum.

Best,
Lynn

Welcome from Washington...you've come to the right place! You won't believe the amount of knowledge and experience here...I'd be lost without Newf Net!

Thank You for the warm Welcome!
Angela I was not aware there was a breeder in Calgary, Honestly I have not seen a Newf here. The first time I had ever seen a Newfie was in Ft McMurray last year.
I know there is a breeder in Red Deer. I am going to go to the show up there next month and there is one here too Mid Nov.

Brenda I have been complaining of running out of available books here to read but now I can't complain after joining the Forum! lol.

Thank you Kaila!

I am happy to be here. I have been a member of other foruns for my other pets and they are not so nice.
I knew I finally picked a good Breed to be involved in! lol. these dogs can't be appreciated by anyone not kindred spirits! :D

Hi Lynn...welcome from Saskatchewan too If you are looking for breeders a good place to start is to seach Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada, and then find the breeders directory on that site. Interview breeders, and find one that you are comfortable with even if it means travelling outside of your area :)

Ft. MacMurray eh. I wonder if it was my girl. My son lives there and takes care of her when I go away.

There were 2 of them it was the first time I had seen Newfs up close. I was unprepared for it and all I could do was stand there breathless with my mouth hanging open and my heart hammering. I Didn't get to get close or talk to their owner. I was just so awed by them. It was the deciding moment for me. :D never had I reacted to an animal in that way. My Heart still races a bit when I think about it.

Pipelineozzy- Thank you for the tip! I will do that, I have come across 1 breeder and I like everyone of her dogs, her website looks great as do her pictures but I want to take my time and make sure I make the right choices. ( I even recognized the Sire's name for one of her breeding girls)
I will do what you suggested, I have no problem with going outside my area. I Learned my lesson several years ago with a pure bred cat I got. my gawd the problems I had!
I tend to rely on references now and my gut!
I did do a search through Canada's Guide to Dogs and I have looked through CKC
I am again a little wary because of my past experiences I learned just because they are a member of the kennel club doesnt mean they are a good breeder.
