(A little long because I want the new folks to know about this girl just like most of you do)
I'll chime in with MissM aka MaB aka MollyBear aka GrandmaMol. (we nickname in multiples around here)
Pae decided Molly needed us when we were out in Estes Park Colorado last July for the GTG. Rocky Mountain Newf Rescue came to the picnic and brought her along. She was 10 at the time. Pae (who is a little snotrag at times) sidled up to her, nuzzled her and looked at me as if to say 'Mom, Molly needs us.." later that night back at the cabin I took the DH to the side and said that I just coundn't get her out of my mind and kept seeing the look in her eyes when I held her face in my hands to say hello. (Pae's reaction to her wasn't helping matters either)
MissM's owners, after 10 years, decided to divorce and neither one wanted her (GASP) so into rescue she went.
The next morning I called RMNR and told them that MissM was coming to NC.
We already had Pae, Syd and Gojie with us in the back of a Suburban and for those of you that have seen Sydney...well, let's just say that boy AIN'T small. Throw luggage and everything else back there and there was no room for MissM to come back with us on the looooong drive back to NC.
Thanks to Megan (Bojie's Mom) we were able to come home and regroup to decide what to do and how. Even though Meg was going through recovery from a harrowing ordeal with Bojie, she still stepped up to help us coordinate a flight, get the crate purchased and pick up MissM (with the help of Rob too!!) to get her to the airport for her final journey home. Megan got her ready, added everything she needed in her travel crate and the next thing you know she was airbound and flying across country.
I think her travel was the most participated in event that FB has ever seen. So many of us tracked her flight from start to finish and Teri (Abbey here on NN) kept posting songs to everyone as they related to whatever state MissM was flying over at the time. Wine toasts were made as she got closer to home and finally at 11:30ish, she landed and barreled out of her crate to hit the first grassy patch outside the airport.
MaB is now almost 11. She's a spunky ole girl despite her age. She adores the youngsters as long as they don't romp around too close to her. She'll "tell it" if they do and they generally comply. If they are in the other room and being too loud for her liking, she taaaakes herrrrrr tiiiiime, geeets uuuuup, mosies on over to where they are, lets out one long loud WOOOOOOOOOF and then turns around and goes back to her spot and lays down to sleep. They all stop, look at her as if she's lost her mind and then settle down realizing that the Queen has spoken. It's hilarious to watch.
She is slow to get up but doesn't exhibit any pain. She's like a little low rider tank when she hears the treat bag open or hears me yell "coooookie!!" She's pretty darn quick if it nets her something yummy. She loves going to Starbucks for pumpkin bread and can still ramp up with a little help holding her steady.
We adore the ole girl and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. We're very thankful that we have her in our lives.
We are ever grateful to Megan and Rob to for helping get her to us.
We are also very thankful to the many many friends who (behind the scenes and without our knowledge) took up a collection that paid for MissM's flight in full. Talk about making me cry like a baby when I started getting all these checks and payPal donations!!!!
