Was out in the yard with Mags last night. She did her business then walked the yard for a bit, sniffing here and there. Told her it was time to go in and to my surprise she didn't resist! She darted to the door and just stood there waiting for me to open it. I thought it was kind of fishy that that she didn't look at me AND was so easy to come in. I told her to "look at me". She froze...humm, whats she got? Said, look at me, and she turned her head and had something hanging from her mouth. Lil fart was trying to sneak something in. Looked at it and seemed to have some kind of white root in her mouth with long stems hanging from it. Looked closer and it was a FROG!!!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWW! SO here we are at 11:30pm, Im telling her to drop it and she is completely ignoring me. I am NOT grabbing this thing from her! After a lovely 10 minute discussion with the dog, she finally dropped it! Don't know if it was dead or just in shock (i sure was!). All I know is that it wasnt there this morning. Although Maggie sure was looking for new "toy'!
So glad it was late and there were no witnesses to this ordeal!

Too funny! (since I can't use my smiles) just imagine my chair falling over backwards! It's funny how you just know when some of these guys are up to something!

My first newf, Barney did that all the time. In the summertime or warm weather, I always had to check his mouth. He would always find those little critters, (didn't kill them, just wanted to play). So it became a ritual every night.

He was soooo good at hiding groceries, critters, etc. You would really have to look at him and lift his flews. One time, he had a full sandwich in his mouth. His flews were a tad extended and I had a look in his mouth. Sandwich fully intact. Oh ya, he was a true counter surfer.

At Christmas one year, my husband and a friend were sitting at the island in full view of all the counters in the kitchen. I had to excuse myself, told them to keep an eye on the cheese and fruit I had put on the china plate. Needless to say, they didn't. Barney had swiped the plate clean, everything gone. But, at least, Barney was tidy. He didn't break any plates.

Haa haa....Newfie shake downs. Got to see what they are packing before they can come in!
Oh Anita, how did you get it out of the house??? I could just see me trying to steer a frog out of the house without actually touching it. Add in a Newf who wants to keep its toy! I think I would have to admit defeat and pour myself a drink!!!!

I just scooped the poor thing up on a dustpan and put it back out outside the fence....Once it came to it's senses it made a speedy departure.......

Elvis found a toad on our back deck once. He got so excited and after bouncing around it for a few, bent right over and picked it up in his mouth.

After that, he picked his head up, looked at us kinda funny, and literally spit it back out. I guess it tasted bad or felt funny, but I was dying laughing at his expression!
