I let sweet Eden Anne go late this afternoon. She would have been 14 years old in December. But, she lost the strength in her legs to get up on her own and when I finally got her up, it was difficult for her to stand even with my help. Early this week I was hopeful that with laser treatments and pain meds, she might get better. Unfortunately, yesterday, last night, and today, it was painfully clear to me she was only getting worse. I also realized she lost the sparkle in her eyes.

I will miss that sweet, gentle lady. She is now with Anya and Rogan...my trio of fur babies...how I miss them.

It was on this forum that I met so many wonderful people at a newf net get-together in Iowa 2007 and 2008. I remember being on the phone with the breeder who I got Anya from and who cared for Eden when her first owner could not. We were making arrangements for me to take Eden in July (of 2008). When I mentioned, in passing, that I was taking Anya and Rogan to a newfie get-together in Iowa the coming weekend, she said "Oh Eden would love that!". So I went from picking up Eden mid-July to the very next day. And Eden's first outing was with me, Anya, and Rogan at a wonderful newf-net get-together. Over the last seven years we had many adventures together.

Rest in peace, sweet Eden Anne - December 11, 2001 - October 1, 2015

So sorry to read this. Another Newf I grew up with here on newf.net is now at the Bridge. What is more troubling to me is the weakening of the legs. I am seeing some of that on Snuffles in the last few weeks who will be 11 1/2 tomorrow. And with the bad left leg knee and very arthritic elbows I know there is only so much one can do. Anyway RIP sweet Eden Anne.

I am sorry for your loss. I too have recently lost my beloved Tonka. He too could not get up on his own. He was only 9. I miss him so very much still. I know how you are feeling.

I can only imagine that the herd of Newfs running to greet Eden will be VERY impressive. We've lost so many of our beautiful loved ones, but the thought of them being all together at last is somewhat comforting. I'll bet they have their own forum where they trade silly owner stories.

You'll be running with the best of the Eden. Have loads of fun. Just know that you are missed here.
