Cleaning Floors

I have a steam cleaner of indeterminate brand (which is an issue, if it breaks again the local fixit place won't have any parts). It works well on our tile floors but extra care does need to be taken for extra-grimy areas. On the grout issue -- I've used the grout attachment (wire brush on a thing that looks vaguely like an electric toothbrush) and it works, but not as well as I can do on hands & knees with a soapy scrub brush. And you still have to wipe up the dirty water either way, only it's more with the steamer. I am resigned to a rotating schedule of grout cleaning; it really can be done in 15-minute segments but gaaah...I'd rather be doing just about anything else.

Laborers, $80 for the day, work at least 8 hours;
include balony sandwich & bottled water; interior floors,
painting, all outside landscaping, generally must supervise,
have always gotten good men & jobs! Pick up at the local
train station. (minutes from house)

I'm not sure Jess, someone mentioned something about getting ALL the hair off the floor and totally lost me! :!rolling:
Yeah, that's why the mop doesn't work for us. I've never heard of getting all the Newf hair off of anything. I used Scotch tape on something at work today--River hair under it. My coworker had a River hair in her eye after she hugged me. Anyway:eek:fftopic:

Yup- we only have 1 Newf and I picked Newf hair out of that marshmallow batter I made yesterday. Only one though so that's good. Today the "hairweeds" are rolling across the floors.

I'm lucky... 110 year old house with heart pine floors. They look distressed before AND after cleaning! :)
That's what we call it?!? My house is about 95 years old, there is hard wood floors that need to be refinished.....but by leaving them in this state they look "distressed" so scratches and such don't bother me. They will never look clean......like what you see on tv clean.....

Yeah, I've wondered about those steam mops, but I also like the way the rooms smells after I wash my floors with store bought stuff.

Do steam cleaners leave any odor.....like wet dog or anything?
