Boatswain pics--4 months

Boatswain turned 4 months last Thursday! I can't believe how fast the time is flying by! I remembered to bring my camera when we went for a little romp through the woods this weekend--then we stopped by the dog park for a swim on the way home.

Liisa, you're absolutely right. I was looking at some photos of a Cooper about a week ago and my husband walked by. He said "Is that Boatswain?" and I said "No, but I think it's his long lost brother"!

They are so gorgeous! Is that Stoddard Neck? I think I see Weymouthport in the background. Sometimes I miss living on the South Shore. Hingham Bay would be a great place to introduce Lu to salt water swimming.

Awwww. Great pics! They look like best buds. I love the on where Boatswain is laying down looking up. Too cute.

Tricia, it is Stoddard's Neck! Good eye! We go every day, but Boatswain still hasn't swum on his own--he gets in a little deeper every day, though. There are several newfs there who are regulars, which is great!

There are a lot of bays around that are good for a new swimmer and this time of year is great since most beaches don't have dog restrictions until next month. You aren't too far! You know the beach they use in Auburn for the water tests? Can you use that at any time? That's a great beach for training and you could have "home field advantage" for the tests :)

Thanks for the insider info about Auburn! I grew up in Hingham and lived in Duxbury until last year, so I'm much more familiar with the beaches where you guys are. I'm right across the street from Lake Ripple but I can't find a beach on my side. Miss Lu is mad, crazy to jump in the lake...lol.

That's too funny! We lived in Hingham for about a year before moving to Weymouth. The in-laws are down in Duxbury, so we go to that beach often. The hiking pictures were taken at Wompatuck and I'm on a pretty regular rotation between there, Bare Cove Park, Nantasket Beach and the dog park. How do you like it there on Lake Ripple?

Oh, I miss Duxbury, my antique cape, riding my horses in the town forest and into town for ice cream and that fabulous beach. But sometimes life leads you down a different road. There's a lot to like about this area, the fields at Tuft's Vet School are fabulous, there are lots of fresh water spots to swim and best of all....no Rt.3/3A Friday commutes from hell. I'd like to take the girls for a stroll out to World's End, though, I used to love to sit on the hill and watch the sun come up over Boston Harbor.

Addendum: Watch out for the hawks at Wampatuck. I lost a good hunk of scalp to a Mama Redtail one spring when I ventured too close to her nest on horeback. Serves me right, I knew I should have been wearing my helmet!

Thanks, all!! Bo appreciates your kind words! He's been a dream--he was a star in his obedience class and I've just started a handling class in hopes that he'll do just as well in the ring :) I definitely need more work than he does!

Tricia, the cape traffic commute from hell is right...and it's the beginning of the season! We push past these brutal winters so we can enjoy the summer, but to enjoy it you get stuck in hours of traffic. It's just not right!

Did you used to get ice cream at Far Fars? I cannot drive by that place without stopping! I also love French Memories in Duxbury center, but there is a Cafe Vanille on Beacon Hill (I work downtown) so when my husband works from home and I go into the office I occasionally run over there for a pastry. Either that or a cannoli from the North End, haha.

Thanks for the hawk warning!! So jealous that you are able to ride! I actually took horseback riding lessons out by Auburn last year, but eventually I got tired of going out every week. Every single time my husband asks me what I want for a gift I say "A pony!" Hopefully one day...
