Best vehicle for traveling with Newfs?

We are thinking of adding to the Newf family next year and I was wondering what people find is the best travel vehicle for multiple Newfs? I currently drive a Mercury Mountaineer and Scarlet loves to ride in the back seat on the hammock..If I were to travel with a crate, only one Newf size crate would fit in the back..I am not sure how minivans do with 2 large crates or should I look at the Econoline-style vans which have the extended length...:shrug:

We've got a Suburban and it is great for hauling the dogs around lots of other stuff.

We don't crate ours...Three are harnessed in the back of our Jeep grand Cherokee. It has really good anchoring points. And being a Turbo Diesel is very cheap to run. Which in the great distances we travel is very important.
Also the tail-gate has a great window that opens when we are parked and with the passenger windows open gives great air circulation

We have a Chevy suburban (fits 6 adults + 3 newfs + 1 pug + 2 month summer vacation stuff + the gas tank inside (with it under the car, would probably fit 5 newfs ;-) ) . We LOVE it :). Runs on gas, so not too expensive either on the long journeys. Very comfortable and very good to drive.

We purchased a mini van (GASP!!!)- Dodge Grand Caravan. It has the stow and go seating (seats fold into the floor). The back windows roll down...which Gabe loved because it was just the right height for him to stand up and put his nose out the window. :) It had PLENTY of room in the back- for several Newfs, dog beds and luggage. It was low to the ground so it was easy for Gabe to step in and out of...no jumping needed...which was perfect for Gabe with his ortho issues. I would highly recommend one!

Yep! When we went up to the OC GTG last October, Teri flew in and went up with us. We had three adults, luggage and a BIG BOX OF WINE along with my three in the back with the stow and go seats hidden. Even with one back seat still up (behind the front passenger seat) for Teri to sit in, the magnificent trio had more than enough room to lay down and move around.

Our Town and Country mini-van holds two large crates, our water and drafting equipment and our luggage with plenty of room to spare. It is low enough that the boys do not need a ramp. Gets about 22-24 miles per gallon.

We have a Honda CR-V. Grayce gets buckled into the back seat for long hauls and stands in the back area for short ones. We like it although I'm not sure she does!

We have a Town & Country Chrysler van that we bought about 8 years ago for our Berner (and kids). Kids have since graduated and don't live here, and Berner boy died 18 months ago, but 3 years ago we brought home our Newf. We removed one of the captains chairs in the back, and it became our dog-mobile, capable of carrying both our Newf and Berner in the empty space. It STILL is our dog-mobile, hasn't EVER given us ANY issues, and is a great car for carting around our dogs every day to the dog park and back. I love the fact that even on his dying day, the Berner could jump on his own into the van. It's low enough that even old dogs with ortho issues don't seem to have a problem with it.

Our Ford Escape will hold the four with the larger split seat down and the small seat up for Mom. They will all sort themselves out and find a sport to lie. We do have a 5 x 8 Trailer to haul the Nut House supplies, crates, etc.
