Bentley is sick. Any ideas?

Going on day 2 of no interest in food or little water. I haven't seen him go Potty yet. He is not panting, pacing, or excessively drooling. He occassionally vomits a thin bright yellow stuff. We go to the vet at 9 to have stitches removed, but I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas of what's going on. I'm an idiot when it comes to maladies and need your help! Than you :)j

Stitches? Did I miss something? Could he have developed an infection as a result of whatever caused the stitches? How does the area around the stitches look?

I don't THINK it's the stitches, Jeannie. He's done well with them. He had a skin tag removed from his hind quarters. It got nicked at the groomer's. We decided to have it removed to avoid further mishaps. My boy was so good; he didn't need anesthesia!

My fear is he got into something he shouldn't have. Is this how they act with a blockage? Could he just be sick? I HATE not knowing. I want to know what I should be asking the vet!

No answers Suse, but your vet should know what to look for once you describe the symptoms. Hopefully just a tummy upset... Keep us posted !!! :bear:

Doesn't sound like the stitches would be the problem Like Lynn said, hopefully it is an upset tummy. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the concern! The vet thinks Bentley got into something out in the yard he shouldn't have. He gave him anti-nausea medicine and we're to give pepcid AC. He's to take Pepto Bismol if diarrhea sets in ( and it has). We are to give him pedialyte as well. He says to watch him today and to call tomorrow if no improvement.

Please pray that it's not a blockage. Poor guy has been through enough in his 6 years.

Poor baby. I thought he had an infection with that yellow vomit coming out, but if Pepcid helps, that is wonderful!!! Please keep us posted.

Sue, is he on any meds for anything? Is it possible he's having a reaction to those meds? Otherwise, your Vet is probably right, BUT it could be other things as well.

If he can't hold down water, I'd take him back this afternoon (don't want to wait too long since he's already been off food and vomiting for two days) and have them do bloodwork checking kidney and liver function....and if that's okay, an xray.

Hugs to you and sweet Bentley. Please keep us posted.

Suse, sorry to hear that Bentley is under the weather. Keeping our fingers crossed that he feels better soon.

I'm sure the vet would practice caution. I had my Scooter in for an emergency check because not only did he vomit, he vomited yellow (i think that's stomach acids) and then diarrhea which turned black and bloody. Scared the #$#$ out of us. OMG. Vet took xrays, says 'it's probably gastroenterisitis' gave him some fluids and meds, and next day he was fine.

I, however, have more gray hairs.

just watch out for any blood in any stools he may be producing as this is the first sign of haemorraghic gastroenteritis which can be fatal. Beau has had two sessions of this already and emergency dash's and intensive care stays both times.

I sure hope its just a normal tummy bug and that he gets over it quickly though if you are anything like me now you will end up getting gray hairs from worrying over them
