Bass Pro Store

Since I found out you can bring your dogs to Bass Pro Shop, I've wanted to take Murphy, but I wasn't sure since they have clothing and food in the store, not to mention the huge fish tank.
Well, I took him this afternoon and we had a blast! I was only able to walk a few feet at a time before another crowd formed. Everytime I turned around there were at least 5 people taking his picture!
The employees of the store were great. They got him cookies and one guy thought he looked thirsty and brought him a bowl of water! Then they had to call maintenance to clean up the water that spilled over the sides of the bowl, well you guys know! I would have brought his water if I had known we were going to be in the store for 2 hours!
He was so busy being charming to everybody, he didn't even notice the huge stuffed animals or the fish tank.
It was a great socializing experience for him. He kissed all the little ones, and sat nicely for them to pet him. I was very proud of my little boy!!
Can't wait to go back!

Bass Pro Shops is a wonderful experience. We took Cosmo & Indy on Saturday just to socialize. Did you hear any comments from people saying that they didn't know that you could bring dogs into the store? We have even had people stop and ask us why we brought our dogs into the store.

the nearest store is at least 50 miles from us but maybe one day when we want a real outing we'll try it. Sounds like great fun and good for the Newfs and others.

The manager of the Bass Pro Shop in Concord, NC actually has one of my Vinnie's littermates! So yes, they seem to be dog friendly chain wide.

Bass Pro Shop is my favorite place to shop. I get a lot of my clothes there. I didn't know dogs were welcome either until the last time we were there and we met a Mastiff. Moonlight may get to go soon. I just love that place.

Do you go to the one in Clarksville, IN? There are several Newfoundlands that visit on a regular basis, including our two. We go to Petsmart in Clarksville every Sunday for our obedience training. :)

I didn't know you could take your dog there! We have left Darwin in the crate in the car while we've gone in--twice. BUMMER!

Next time, though.

Edited to add:

I just called the Pro Shop near here---and they only allow service animals because they have a fudge and candy shop. But the woman I talked to knew what I was talking about. She just said it was a county ordinance. So, call ahead before taking your dog--just in case they have special circumstances.

Yup. Clarksville is the place. Love the river running through the store and the turtles in the summer. They used to have a wonderful seafood restaurant up in the top of the place. I hated that it closed. Was a bit too expensive, I think.

I had no idea you could bring dogs there. We have one about 30 minutes from me in Foxboro. I'll have to give them a call and see if Lucy is welcome. They also have a fudge and candy shop as well as a restaurant.

Just talked to the manager of the Concord (Charlotte) NC store - and yes, they allow leashed, well-behaved non-service dogs in their store. Can't wait to go!

In case anyone was wondering .... Cabela's DOES NOT allow dogs in the store. Just called since there is one 5 miles from my house that I frequent.
