I understand the point of a few select dogs being over used. However, that is truly a very different issue than whether a breeder uses AI or practices a more natural approach. In fact, if you looked at backyard breeders and most puppy mills, I would bet that almost all of them use a natural approach and never do AI. AI is not an inexpensive way to breed so a lot of thought, time and study often goes into these decisions by breeders.
Don't blame the stud dog owners nor the pactice chosen for breeding. I believe Susan is right - through this technology we've been able to introduce new lines into breeding programs regardless of geography.
In the end, it's still up to breeders (and all parties involved) to make responsible breeding choices. The method or means chosen is truly secondary - in other words... To use a golfing analogy - it's not the club, but the golfer that matters in the game
