Back in late August, Anya was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (posted under Maladies and Diseases) on her right-front leg. Anyway, so far, Anya is doing well...considering. She is getting a pain pill every morning and more later in the day, if needed, which isn't often. She doesn't put any weight on her leg but will use it for leverage to help her get up and down the ramp into the house. She can still get in the van to go on outings that don't require a lot of walking; or, she just likes to go for car rides. She still sasses me when I come home during lunchtime. I get quite a greeting (or is it a scolding?) from her when I come home for lunch. Anya still has her spirit and spunk.
Since her diagnosis, we went to the cottage Labor Day weekend. We have gone out to the dog park but we make the short walk in then sit down and watch the world go by. We were in attendance at the dog walk for our local shelter and another dog walk a few weeks later which was sponsored by Anya's vet. I had the honor of walking Bentley (Mrs Big Dogs) while Bentley's mom (Glory) sat with Anya and Eden. Anya and Eden were with me working about two weeks ago during the Pet Expo on Friday night and all day Saturday (Anya even ran when she saw her friends!). So, we try to attend events as much as possible...we just don't necessarily have a high level of activity...except to receive pets and loves from anyone who will give them.
I am hoping Anya will continue to have this same happy, healthy life for many months to come. I am hoping she will be here January 8 to celebrate her golden birthday! Fingers and paws crossed.
