Another Hello from Ohio

Doc's Mom

New member
Hello, I would like to introduce myself and my Doc Holliday. I got him from a breeder almost 3 months ago and he was 10 months old then. The breeder kept him and his brother from a previous litter. Doc will be 13 months on Nov. 13th. He is such a sweetheart. I have him enrolled in Intermediate class through PetSmart (I couldn't find another trainer in my area) and he is due to graduate this Saturday. Although, I know he will still need lots of work. Especially on Come and Heel. But he has done so well. I would like to find a club to get involved in.

Does anyone know of a trainer that specifically trains Newfoundlands in the Central OH area?

Thanks and I am so glad I found this forum!

There is a very active crowd from Ohio on here...I'll bet one of them can direct you to the nearest club and trainer.

Welcome from Virginia!

Welcome from Wisconsin!

Though we did live outside of Akron for a while... a quarter century ago... and our Abbie is a Buckeye girl by birth!

Doc's Mom welcome to NN!! We live in Central OH with our Newfie and Bernese Mtn. Dog. We are VERY active in obedience/rally/draft with our two. We started at Petsmart with our Newf as well but there was only one other dog in the class and that wasn't enough socialization for my baby bear. We then found Columbus All Breed Training club and were sucked into the world of dog obedience and are actively putting titles on our pups. There are a variety of breeds there, but myself and another woman with Newfs are very active and there are a few people with Berners there as well. I'd highly recommend it for your boy!! They have classes for anything you want to do from basic obedience to tracking, rally, agility and they are considering adding a drafting class since so many have been interested in it. If you PM me I can give you more information. If you'd like a private trainer I can also send you some names there who have experience with non-traditional breeds like Newfs/Berners.
